Your Work Context
As an experienced engineer at Jan De Nul, you will lead one of our major offshore projects, from start to finish. Think of the energy island we are building in Vlissingen or the Greenlink subsea cable we are installing between Ireland and Wales. Your experience is invaluable to us.
Jan De Nul is committed to advancing the transition to renewable energy. We install offshore wind turbines, protect offshore infrastructure through rock installation, lay submarine cables, and even build energy islands. To achieve these goals, we need experienced offshore project engineers like you.
Your Role
Your experience counts
You coordinate our challenging projects, from concept to delivery, from our office in Aalst, at one of our projects worldwide or on board one of our ships.
1. You are responsible for scheduling, drafting, further detailing and calculating execution methods to prepare our offshore works (rock dumping, cable laying, foundations and installation of offshore wind farms).
2. You work up the relating documentation into calculation notes and method statements.
3. You supervise the current works and you will be responsible for follow-up after completion of the works in collaboration with the Project Management.
Obviously, you don't have to do all of this alone. You can rely on the support of both young and experienced colleagues. You’ll work together with just about all our departments and can turn to your project manager whenever you need his or her support. And if you’d like to expand or refine your skills or knowledge, our JDN Academy is waiting for you.
A personalized work rhythm
Based on your project phase, division needs, and personal situation, we collaborate to find the rhythm that fits you best. At our Aalst office, you work a 40-hour week with occasional opportunities to work from home. Onboard our ships, you follow the offshore schedule: six weeks at sea with twelve-hour days, seven days a week, followed by six weeks off. As an expat at one of our sites worldwide, you work two months with twelve-hour days, six days a week, followed by one month off.
What do you need?
1. A master's degree in industrial or civil engineering sciences or related degree.
2. Five years of engineering experience.
3. That indispensable mindset of a solution seeker, a problem solver.
4. A keen interest in exploring the world of marine construction.
5. A natural ability for guiding people.
6. Planning and organisational talent.
7. Excellent teamwork skills.
8. Sense of adventure, in combination with independent working skills.
