The Department of CAPRI (Collaborative Antwerp Psychiatric Research Institute) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is looking for a full-time doctoral scholarship holder in the field of immunopsychiatry.
Position
* You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis in the field of immunopsychiatry. The research will focus on the role of inflammatory processes in mood and psychotic disorders and is embedded in an international research consortium.
* You will mainly operate from SINAPS (Scientific Initiative for Neuropsychiatric and Psychopharmacologic Studies), a collaboration between CAPRI and the University Psychiatric Centre Duffel.
* You will publish at least 3 scientific articles related to the research project.
* As a SINAPS team member, you will contribute to other projects of our research group and carry out limited teaching and research support tasks for CAPRI.
Profile
* You hold a master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields in neuroscience.
* You are an independent researcher who functions optimally in a close-knit team.
* You are socially apt to interact with psychiatric patients and integrate fluently in a non-hierarchical operational team.
* You demonstrate good knowledge in statistics and writing skills.
* Experience with psychiatric patients, bioinformatics, website design, or clinical trial management is advantageous.
* You speak and write fluently in English; knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
* Your teaching competences align with the University of Antwerp’s standards.
* You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation.
What we offer
* A doctoral scholarship for a period of two years, renewable once for another two-year period following a positive evaluation.
* The planned start date is the 1st of October or as soon as possible after that date.
* Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the pay scales for doctoral scholarship holders.
* The selection committee will review all applications after the application deadline. You will be informed about the next steps in the selection procedure.
