Purpose of the Role:
As the Commodity Manager, you will lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for packaging and chemical commodities across Europe. Your role aligns with PSS business objectives by driving supply chain optimization while leveraging a strong understanding of market trends, competition, and the specific commodities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Purchasing Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities in Europe. Partner with global commodity managers to contribute to a cohesive, worldwide approach.
* Supplier Base Management: Optimize and expand the supplier network, ensuring the right balance of capacity, cost efficiency, and performance. Oversee supplier contributions to mass production and new product development, including rigorous quality control measures.
* Sourcing and Negotiation: Manage RFx processes, negotiate contracts, and select suppliers for new projects, aligning with business goals and nomination criteria. Secure competitive pricing and favorable supply agreements to maintain market leadership.
* Supplier Performance and Relationships: Foster strong supplier relationships by conducting regular performance reviews, addressing deviations, and implementing corrective actions to meet budgets and stakeholder expectations.
* Industry Insights and Risk Management: Stay updated on market trends and proactively identify and mitigate supplier risks to ensure a resilient supply chain.
* Ethical and Sustainable Operations: Execute responsibilities in alignment with Code of Ethics, and adhere to health, safety, quality, security, and sustainability standards. Prioritize environmental risks and opportunities identified within the department’s environmental aspects analysis.
Qualifications:
* Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
* Experience: At least 3 years of experience in packaging and/or chemical sourcing, ideally within a global organization.
* Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Core Attributes: Strong critical thinking, ethical integrity, teamwork, effective communication, and proven ability to deliver on milestones.
