We are strengthening our Group Accounting, Tax and Treasury team in Brussels, Belgium; Slough, UK; or Monheim, Germany, with the addition of an Internal Controls Manager.
About The Role
The Global Internal Control function operates independently while supporting operations/line management in building efficient internal control processes. We are expanding our scope to non-financial reporting, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) / Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Key Responsibilities:
* Strengthening the internal control environment via monitoring and collaboration with operations/line management
* Leveraging data analytics to identify trends, anomalies, and act as a risk-control challenger
* Leading process improvement initiatives related to internal control
* Reporting to Head of Internal Controls and business stakeholders on internal control progress
What You'll Do
* Compliance monitoring, control documentation management, substantive testing of controls, and maintenance of control frameworks
* Monitoring report and dashboard creation, stakeholder communications through reports, dashboards, and meetings
* Risk assessments, identifying mitigation strategies, utilizing data analytics to detect trends, anomalies, and potential control weaknesses
* Leading internal control projects, focusing on process improvement, root cause analysis, and risk assessment
* Providing training and education on risk awareness, fostering a consistent internal control environment
* Overseeing documentation and maintenance of tools used for control testing
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree
* Minimum 5 years in a global organization, preferably in pharma/biopharma sector, with 3-4 years of experience in audit, internal controls, and compliance
* Strong knowledge of risk management, auditing principles, internal control standards like COSO, and financial processes
* Familiarity with SAP modules, outsourced operations, and their respective risks/controls
* Management and leadership skills, demonstrating independence, adaptability, analytical thinking, and proactive approach to learning
* Ability to manage ambiguity, maintain stakeholder relationships, communicate complex concepts effectively, and strong presentation and project management skills
