Senior Data Governance Engineer (m/f/d)

In this role, you are responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of the data governance framework within the Data & Analytics team. You will work extensively with our data practitioners from Data Architecture, Engineering & Science on one hand, and with Data Protection & Compliance Officers and IT Security Experts on the other. We expect you to be genuinely interested in data, enjoy working hands-on with it, and love setting up and managing governance mechanisms around data. You will pave the way for even better data & analytics solutions to help us make better and more human-centric decisions.
What will be your challenge in the role:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy and framework to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
2. Advocate for data governance principles and practices across the organization
3. Establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures
4. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to data governance policies
5. Define data quality mechanisms to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement
6. Oversee data lineage, metadata management, and data cataloging
7. Implement data stewardship practices to maintain data integrity and reliability
8. Define and visualize existing Data Models together with our Data Architects
9. Serve as the primary point of contact for data governance issues and inquiries
10. Foster a culture of data literacy and accountability across the organization
11. Assess the latest market trends and industry best practices regarding Data Governance
12. Proactively capture opportunities for further improvement of Data Governance within the organization
13. Work in a global, multinational Data & Analytics team in a dynamic FinTech environment
What you need to succeed in the role:
14. A University degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or comparable disciplines, ideally with a focus on Data & Analytics / Data Management
15. At least 2 years of hands-on experience in data practitioner roles within Data & Analytics solutions
16. At least 3 years of practical experience as a Data Governance Engineer and experience with Data Catalog solutions
17. Knowledge of relevant data protection regulations (within the EU) and their implications on hands-on work with data
18. Deep knowledge of modern Data Governance concepts, as well as Data Modelling and Data Management
19. Experience in Microsoft Azure technology stack
20. Fluent English, German, or Norwegian is a plus
21. Structured way of thinking and working with strong conceptualization skills, as well as exceptional execution skills
