IC DESIGN ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
As an IC Design Engineer with a background in VLSI for test equipment, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance integrated circuits used in semiconductor test systems, automated test equipment (ATE), and validation platforms.
Your expertise in VLSI design, analog/mixed-signal circuits, and high-speed digital design will contribute to the development of precision measurement, signal generation, and data acquisition solutions for testing semiconductor devices, including microprocessors, memory chips, and RF components.
In this role, you will be involved in the entire IC development cycle, from specification and architecture definition to circuit design, simulation, layout, and post-silicon validation. You will work closely with test engineers, system architects, and firmware developers to ensure the seamless integration of custom ICs into test equipment.
The role requires a deep understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes, low-noise design techniques, and high-speed signal processing to achieve accurate and reliable test results.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop custom VLSI circuits for semiconductor test and measurement equipment.
* Work on analog, digital, and mixed-signal IC design, including ADC/DACs, PLLs, amplifiers, comparators, and high-speed interfaces.
* Conduct circuit simulations and verification using industry-standard EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics.
* Collaborate with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning, routing, and parasitic-aware design for high-performance ICs.
* Ensure low-noise, high-precision signal integrity for test applications through careful circuit design and modeling.
* Perform post-layout simulations, parasitic extraction, and timing analysis to validate performance.
* Work with test engineers to define test strategies, characterization methodologies, and ATE test patterns.
* Assist in silicon bring-up, debugging, and validation in the lab using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and high-speed test instruments.
* Stay up to date with the latest VLSI design methodologies, semiconductor process technologies, and test equipment advancements.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, VLSI Design, or a related field.
* Strong background in VLSI design, semiconductor physics, and integrated circuit fabrication.
* Hands-on experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design, RTL design (Verilog/VHDL), and ASIC/FPGA prototyping.
* Proficiency in EDA tools for circuit simulation, layout design, and verification (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics).
* Understanding of test methodologies, semiconductor device characterization, and ATE systems.
* Experience in high-speed data transmission, precision signal processing, and low-power circuit design.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot circuit behavior and test performance.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
The Offer:
* Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including meal vouchers, health insurance, and transportation allowance.
* Opportunities for professional growth through training and certification programs.
* A collaborative, innovation-driven work environment with a focus on sustainability.
* The chance to work on impactful engineering projects with global reach.
