Key responsibilities
Manage backup and recovery processes and tools.
Ensure database integrity through logical and physical design principles.
Troubleshoot database performance issues and apply query tuning concepts.
Perform data management tasks, including loading, unloading, updating, restoring, and removing data.
Conduct database maintenance activities such as Adhoc Reorgs and Runstats, and oversee scheduled maintenance tasks.
Monitor and manage database space, including purging obsolete data and reclaiming space.
Execute archiving and purging operations for large application tables.
Identify and resolve high-priority database issues.
Oversee database backups and maintenance jobs, troubleshooting failures in collaboration with Operations.
Refresh Dev/Test databases using production backup images as required.
Technical skills & requirements
Willingness to learn and actively participate in Datacom-related tasks (Datacom knowledge is an asset).
Experience with TSO/ISPF.
Proficiency in JCL coding.
Strong understanding of Cobol-DB2 programming and debugging.
Familiarity with basic IBM utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG, Runstats, etc.).
Knowledge of DB2 tools such as CA Platinum tools and Data Propagator.
