Job description
To strengthen TREMEC’s development towards hybridized and electric drive solutions, we are looking to reinforce our controls engineering team with a power electronics development engineer.
As a passionate technical expert in Power Electronics, you play a key role in building and maintaining the engineering teams core knowledge in the field of Power Electronics.
You are, with the team, responsible for the selection, integration, application, and validation of the power electronics of e-motors as part of our electric and hybrid transmission technologies, taking care of all safety requirements related to the high-voltage electronics.
As model-based control methods are core to our driveline controls technology, you support the development of advanced motor control strategies with fundamental knowledge of power electronics, e-motors, and their control methods.
In practice this means that you:
1. Are part of the Electronics Hardware Team in Tremec.
2. Design automotive power stage electronics (invertors/DCDC convertors/…) and related logic or guides & challenge suppliers taking up these design tasks.
3. Perform the analysis (e.g. FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, ...), verification, issue resolution and validation (e.g. EMC and environmental) during the development phase.
4. Support the integration of the power electronics on the vehicle considering all aspects (thermal/EMC/performance/...).
5. Support definition of requirements and architecture of the power electronics for our electrified projects.
6. Are focal point for power electronics technical discussions with cross-competency teams and customers and cooperate with suppliers on finding optimum solutions.
7. Explore the market for e-motors and their power electronics concept, performance & reliability.
8. Support simulation of vehicle power requirements based upon the e-motor concept.
9. Contribute to the development of advanced and model-based control methods.
About you:
10. You obtained a Master in Electrical Engineering preferably with specialization in Power Electronics or equivalent through experience. Experience is a plus, but we are open to juniors.
11. You preferably have experience with inverters, power converters and high voltage lab environments
12. You have knowledge of designing, integrating, and testing of power electronics and controls
13. You have experience with specifying, selecting, and testing of key electrical components
14. Familiarity with electric/hybrid vehicles and/or their applications is a plus
15. Knowledge of simulation tools, power electronic strategies for driving electrical motors & battery management are seen as an important asset
16. Keeping sight of the bigger picture (the application), while being hands-on to design, simulate & develop yourself is seen as a big asset
17. Eye for detail, structured & qualitative working
18. Eager to learn and dig deeper towards technical understanding of the product
19. Team player with good communication skills
20. You are fluent in English and knowledge of Dutch and/or German is a plus
21. Some travel (less than 5%) and a flexible work schedule on occasion
What we offer:
22. A high-tech environment that is full of creativity and technical talent
23. A varied job, where you will be continually expanding your knowledge
24. A dynamic work atmosphere, good opportunities for training and growth, an organization with a low-level hierarchy, a fluent company culture and an attractive remuneration package
