The Power Electrical Engineer is part of the EAI team, which includes people specialized in industrial electricity, power conversion, automation, and instrumentation. In close cooperation with the EAI team and the purchasing department, the Power Electrical Engineer designs and implements the DC power supply of the electrolyser and surrounding systems (safety, earthing and grounding, etc.), with the aim of continuously optimizing the solutions.
She/He is involved in the design of products, proposal and execution phases, right up to industrial start-up.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze customer specifications and establish deviation lists between the customer’s requirements and John Cockerill’s standard solutions.
* Ensure compliance with local regulations and specific technical requirements.
Excel in Technical Writing:
* Draft precise technical specifications for electrical philosophies, high-voltage transformers, and power electronics (rectifiers, DC-DC converters, inverters, choppers).
* Write comprehensive documentation for cooling systems, earthing/grounding solutions, and electrical protections.
Support Through Documentation:
* Develop and maintain engineering processes, templates, and project documents for internal and external stakeholders.
* Create key project deliverables, such as power balances, cable books, calculation notes, single-line diagrams, and consumer load lists.
Ensure Compliance and Verification:
* Prepare checklists and participate in FAT/SAT activities, ensuring product conformity and regulatory standards.
Collaborate Effectively with Suppliers:
* Work closely with the Purchasing Department to prepare technical comparisons and participate in supplier discussions.
* Clearly document the boundaries of scope and interfaces with suppliers.
Drive Knowledge and Learning:
* Stay proactive in technological advancements in the hydrogen sector, sharing knowledge and improving processes through structured documentation.
You will collaborate with a diverse team of project managers and engineers, all working toward the successful delivery of complex projects. You will report to the EAI Manager.
Experience, Knowledge, and Hard Skills:
️ You have an engineering degree in power electronics or in the electrical field,
️ Experience and knowledge in the Oil & Gas or Energy sector is an asset.
️ You have notions of instrumentation (gas) and a technical basis in automation.
️ Knowledge of software like ETAP is an asset.
️ Knowledge of the following standards, on top of electrical ones (IEC, NEC):

* Explosive Atmosphere
* API
