What you will do
At imec, we are committed to making a positive impact on society through our research in nanoelectronics and digital technologies. As a project lead sustainability in the facilities and infrastructure (FAIN) department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our research is supported by a sustainable infrastructure and handled in a responsible manner, thereby driving our industry towards net zero and compliant with all aspect of Environmental, Societal and Governance (ESG) related matters. In your role you will incorporate sustainability aspects in all processes related to facilities and infrastructure. You will monitor best practice and future developments in sustainable requirements related to facilities (construction works, carbon footprint, efficient use of energy and materials, circularity, …) and translate them into impactful business cases for imec.
In the job, you will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including sustainability advisors, researchers, engineers, contractors and architects. You will work in a dynamic and innovative environment alongside world-class experts. In a rapidly changing world, you are the expert we rely on. You inform your colleagues about (new) technical aspects that are important for making sustainable choices in projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. You will be appointed as energy coordinator and ensure the implementation, documentation and reporting of an energy management system within the framework of our energy policy agreement (Energiebeleidsovereenkomst or EBO) and reporting to the government bodies.
2. You draw up a long-term vision in function of imec's sustainability objectives with a focus on energy consumption, CO2 emission reduction and water reuse within a technical environment.
3. You are responsible for integrating sustainability in all processes within the FAIN department (procurement processes, engineering RFPs, budgeting …).
4. You set up an auditable reporting process within FAIN for sustainability related data (carbon footprint, energy consumption, water usage, …).
5. You manage all sustainability related data reporting related to FAIN activities (EBO, carbon footprint, …).
6. You participate in cross functional teams to manage imec-wide projects (production, R&D, …).
7. You define and implement sustainability-related investments in cooperation with your colleagues and external parties.
8. You are the single point of contact related to all sustainability matters within the FAIN department.
9. You represent Imec in external working groups on sustainability (Leuven klimaatneutraal, VOKA, and maintain an extensive internal and external network
10. You follow sustainability trends and developments in the facilities and infrastructure landscape, benchmark best practices and provide recommendations on continuous improvements:Sustainable buildings and building processes and relevant accreditation schemes (EPB, BREEAM, GRO, WELL, TOTEM, …. ).Efficient (re)use of energy, water and materials, circularity. Who you are
11. You have a Master's degree in industrial sciences, engineering sciences or equivalent or equivalent with experience.
12. You can build on at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
13. You are passionate about sustainability and are a professional in this field.
14. Striving for a better world through energy and water savings is your passion.
15. You are problem-solving in your thinking, and result-oriented.
16. You have an open and clear communication style, both within the organisation and with external partners.
17. You are hands-on and work pragmatically.
18. You have a good knowledge of Dutch and English.
19. You are aware of the latest trends in sustainable energy concepts and eager to keep up to date on them.
20. Sustainability and EBO background is a plus.
21. Experience with corporate energy management processes is a plus.
