As an experienced researcher, you will join the, currently employing around 45 people. ELCAT's main research focus is on electrochemistry, which can be subdivided in three main topics, which are interrelated: (i) electrocatalysis, (ii) electrosynthesis and (iii) electrochemical reactor engineering. The core research activities are related to the development of state-of-the-art electrochemical systems and materials, with a view towards large-scale industrial development in the field of industrial electrification. The research is largely covered by 5 key activities: electrochemical CO2 conversion; green hydrogen production; batteries; power-to-chemicals and electrochemical reactor engineering.
The research group in the Faculty of Applied Engineering is looking for a full-time (%) postdoctoral scholarship holder in the field of batteries.
Position
1. You will carry out high-quality scientific research in the research field of batteries. More specifically, you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing (3D) electrodes for Li and/or Na-batteries. Your task is to help set up this research branch within ELCAT and guide PhD students working within this field.
2. You will report on the results of your research and produce academic publications.
3. You will assist in overviewing and setting up the battery lab.
4. You will assist in the supervision of PhD students and other team members.
5. You will assist in ongoing research projects and the activities of the research group.
6. You will develop new research projects and you compete for externally funded research grants in which you will contribute to attracting national and international research funding.
7. You will participate in the provision of academic services: you will represent the research group both internally and externally.
Profile
8. You hold a PhD in (Materials) Engineering, Applied Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent.
9. You have relevant (international) experience in the field of Li- and or Na-batteries.
10. Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and .
11. Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s .
12. You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
13. You can speak and write fluently in English and have preferably obtained a C1 level of English.
14. You are able to carry out your work and achieve your objectives with a high degree of independence.
15. You can present excellent study and research results.
16. You have knowledge of national and international fundraising. Experience in writing project proposals is an asset.
17. Experience in supervising PhD and/or masters students is an added value.
18. Recommendation letters are an added value.
What we offer
19. We offer a full-time appointment as a postdoctoral scholarship holder for a period of 12 months, renewable after positive evaluation;
20. The planned start date is as soon as possible.
21. Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the for postdoctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for contract research staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
22. You will do most of your work at Campus Drie Eiken in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
