We are recruiting for an Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of our Site in Ghlin, Belgium. This site supports a leading technology brand.
As an Operations Manager, you will establish and maintain procedures for meeting company and customer commitments. Promote and implement continual improvement. Train, motivate, and lead within the area of responsibility. Facilitate conflict resolution. Enforce company policies/procedures
.
* You will lead a team of 2/3 Supervisors and a site of approx. 40 indirect employees
* You will need to have exposure to dealing with Unions
* Experience working in a Logistics/Supply Chain environment and a multidimensional organisation
* Strong customer and stakeholder management
* For this role you need to be fluent in English and French verbal and written
* This role is Monday - Friday
What You Do On a Typical Day
* As an Operations Manager, you will work with the Regional Manager to define requirements for operations and ensure the implementation of new strategies and initiatives to effectively meet or exceed these requirements as well as customer expectations.
* Responsible for reviewing monthly invoicing and budget preparation with the financial controller, liaising with customers for input and approval
* Focus on LEAN techniques, quality management processes, and cost control methodologies within the operations to achieve company goals & profit levels; continued business growth; and long-term relationships with customers.
* Assigns duties and monitors work completion for accuracy.
* Manages performance continually; develops associates by providing training and coaching.
* Maintains a safe work environment and fosters a positive team dynamic, resolving employee relations issues and administering corrective action as required.
* Ensures daily distribution and light manufacturing activities are executed and accountable for performance shortfalls – develop corrective action plans when performance falls below target.
* Supervises and develops staff and otherwise carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
* Responsible for exceeding customer metrics (cost, quality, and responsiveness)
* Implement and coach Lean Warehousing Systems and processes.
* Lead start-up activities with cross-functional teams.
* Daily interaction with internal and external customers is required.
* Accountable for personnel scheduling to support all shifts and accounts, plan and organize staff workload.
* Maintain documentation of processes that are followed by the department.
* Train associates so an up to date understanding of processes, policies, and procedures are maintained.
* Consciously dealing with the reduction of environmental impact in terms of waste, energy, water, and fuel consumption
What You Need To Succeed At GXO
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, with accompanying high-level analytical skills
* Broad experience in the field of Supply Chain/Logistics
* Minimum of 3 years experience in a complex and multidimensional organisation
* Fluent in French and English (verbal and written) communication. Dutch would be advantageous,
* Able to work in a diverse environment and gain exposure to an international working environment
