We are looking for an EHS Manager to strengthen our team in Mechelen, Belgium.
Scope of the job
1. Support, and in a second phase lead, the organization of EHS in Mechelen, allowing all employees and guests to work in a green, safe, innovative, and efficient environment that respects relevant local laws and regulations, as well as corporate policies.
2. Advise and support senior management in Mechelen on issues related to the well-being of employees, occupational safety, health protection, psychosocial aspects, ergonomics, occupational hygiene, and environmental issues.
3. Manage and perform appropriate risk assessments and work proactively to avoid risk situations in Mechelen.
4. Manage, maintain, and support emergency response plans and first aid support in Mechelen.
5. Coordinate the investigation of any EHS related incidents and ensure lessons learnt are adequately cascaded.
6. Support the development of a corporate ISO-compliant Environmental, Health and Safety Management System, and lead its implementation at the Galapagos site in Mechelen.
7. Support Galapagos’ Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, (initially) focussing on the aspects Wellbeing and Building-Related Eco-footprint.
8. Support the certification of relevant Galapagos assets according to international standards such as BREEAM and WELL.
9. Organize corporate initiatives aimed at improving environmental, health and safety awareness and engagement amongst Galapagos employees (such as celebrating the United Nation’s World Environment and Safety days).
10. Able to work in an hybrid way (3 days/week in the office)
