IT Support Officer – Public Sector (Service Desk)

We are supporting a key federal institution within Belgium in its search for an IT Support Officer to strengthen its internal ICT Service Desk. This team plays a central role in enabling around 1,500 internal users to work efficiently through first-line IT support across both hardware and software environments.
You will join a team of about 10 IT professionals within the broader IT department, providing technical assistance, user guidance, and hardware/software troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the first point of contact for internal users seeking IT support related to PCs, applications, and telephony.
* Register and follow up on incidents, set daily helpdesk priorities, and troubleshoot or escalate when needed.
* Provide users with guidance, onboarding, and support in adapting to new IT tools and systems.
* Participate in internal IT projects when they relate to end-user configuration changes or upgrades.
* Collaborate actively with server, infrastructure, and network monitoring teams to resolve incidents and ensure quality of service.
Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in IT (or in progress), with hands-on experience in both hardware and software support (including OS-level troubleshooting).
* Solid foundational knowledge of IT infrastructure: LAN, TCP/IP, Windows domains, network printing, and security basics.
* Familiarity with ITIL practices is considered a strong asset.
* Proactive, solution-oriented, and focused on delivering long-term improvements.
* Structured and organized in your way of working, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
* Strong communication skills and resilience in high-pressure or fast-paced environments.
* Comfortable supporting users in both French and Dutch.
