At Flanders Make, we conduct research focused on innovation in the (manufacturing) industry of the future. In upcoming projects, we aim to develop prototype software tools using state of the art language processing techniques.
As an LLM Researcher at Flanders Make, you will combine state of the art large language techniques, such as Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, with explicitly modeled context from knowledge graphs.
Development and Implementation of AI Solutions for the Manufacturing Industry
You will join an agile environment where you collaborate with experts from software, mechanical, or mathematical engineering backgrounds, with expertise in areas such as model driven engineering, computational design synthesis, optimization techniques, and mechatronic design.
Together, you will establish software developments that will radically accelerate tasks such as search queries for service engineers and data scientists in manufacturing companies. The goal is to create multiple versions of proof of concept solutions.
Responsibilities
* Develop Python tools for prompt generation, data processing (e.g., root cause analysis), and controlling a combination of LLMs;
* Set up and train Large Language Models in various forms (open weight or otherwise);
* Develop and connect knowledge and context in graph databases with the LLMs;
* Test proof of concept tool versions on Flanders Make''s extensive internal (data) infrastructure, as well as externally on real business cases;
* Regularly present the progress of your technical concepts and findings to various stakeholders, including colleagues and partners;
* Actively expand your expertise in your domain and related topics.
Creative Problem Solver with LLM Expertise
As an LLM researcher, you are:
* Interested in applied research that bridges the gap between academia and industry;
* Excited to collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team in a project oriented environment;
* Eager to continually learn new techniques, technologies, and skills while staying informed about the latest academic and industrial research trends;
* Able to communicate your innovative algorithms to both industrial and academic stakeholders.
What you bring:
* Knowledge and background in machine learning, generative AI, and/or language processing;
* Proficiency and efficiency in writing code, primarily in Python;
* Experience with LLMs/AI applications in an academic or industrial context (a background in knowledge graphs is not required);
* Conceptual thinking with an ability to formalize ideas;
* Strong communication and listening skills, both with clients and within the team.
Flanders Make offers you:
1. A challenging job working with experts in various fields on real industrial problems;
2. The opportunity to work with inno
