Context:
Within GEMS (Global Energy Management & Sales), EC MAS (Markets, Assets & Supply) is a GEMSers community sharing a commodity risk management expertise, and composed by portfolio managers, traders and MAS Global Oversight officers team spread across the world.
We nurture a commodity risk management ecosystem, that we want safe, fair, digital and efficient. EC MAS differentiates GEMS thanks to the quality and the transversality of the risk management expertise.
Role:
You will join a skillful, transversal and diversified team, Market Activities & Supply Global Oversight (formerly MAO). As a MAS GO officer, you will accompany GEMS Management, BU clients, Business Platforms (BP) and Expertise Centers (EC) to continuously secure and improve GEMS setup.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Risks and performance oversight (global risk framework, liquidity risk, compliance & regulation, performance & value chain…).
2. Through your transversal projects and tactical missions, you will represent the Front Officers vis-à-vis the ECs, and conversely, be the voice of the ECs to the BPs, so as to promote best practices among various activities and countries, on both risks and performance topics.
3. In particular, you’ll contribute to energize the risk management ecosystem within the green power excellence initiative.
4. You’ll drive change management projects, by leveraging on your authority, pragmatism and technical knowledge to help building operational solutions and solve irritants.
5. In parallel with your projects, you will be in charge of the live supervision of market activities, which consists to ensure the coordinated escalation and remediation of transversal risk events (market, credit or liquidity crisis), in cooperation with the BPs and ECs.
Requirements:
6. Your curiosity, autonomy and fast learning skills (notably on digital) will help you to dive in a large variety of subjects with a high degree of precision to propose and co-construct operational solutions. Charisma, cooperation and leadership are mandatory in this role.
7. Digital: strong appetite for data-driven decision-making, leveraging on digital tools either to promote your ideas (occasional prototypes in Excel / Python / PowerBI / Dataiku) or retrieve disseminated information in a front-to-back digital ecosystem. Operational knowledge of core GEMS digital tools (eg. OT, Gemcube, Wattson) is a plus.
8. Project Management and cooperative mindset: ability to manage transversal projects, with very diverse stakeholders in front of both technical and organizational challenges. You will have to explain and convey messages about complex issues and irritants. Good knowledge of GEMS businesses and processes is a plus.
9. Skills in trading and portfolio management activities, deploying natural analytical capacities to efficiently tackle your challenges and convince other experts. We also value experiences in risk management, financial reporting or regulatory frameworks.
Education:
Master, Engineering degree or Business School with a substantial quantitative content
Experiences in a risk, financial or regulatory framework is a plus.
Working place:
Within a bi-localized team, working place is Brussels (preferred) or Paris.
Occasional travels.
Languages:
Proficient in English; French is a plus, but not mandatory.
