Commercial Data Governance Lead
For the expansion of our Business Information Systems (BIS) team, argenx is looking for a Data Governance Lead with focus on the Commercial and Medical Affairs functions.
The Data Governance Lead establishes, deploys, and enforces the policies and procedures for end-to-end data governance to ensure data is used and maintained properly. The Data Governance Lead works closely with the technical / system architecture teams to define operational processes for monitoring compliance to policies and standards, while coordinating data stewards to remediate data quality issues that arise. The Data Governance Lead aims to promote efficient, accurate records, and effective information management throughout argenx, leveraging their deep understanding of the argenx data environment and coordinating with key stakeholders on both commercial and technical teams
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee integrity, usability, and security of all data assets
2. Check compliance against data governance policies and standards
3. Ensure best practice documentation of policies
4. Work with data stewards to identify and address data quality issues, and track quality remediation efforts
5. Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve compliance and data quality
6. Implement data quality monitoring and improvement measures to meet data quality thresholds as defined by business users
7. Guide data stewards in monitoring activities for each data governance component (e.g., quality, security) and support reporting of enterprise-wide data quality metrics
8. Ensure governance / decision mechanisms are in place to address cross-team dependencies
9. Heavily support deployment activities including but not limited to compiling an up-to-date data catalog and ensuring consistent data definitions
10. Maintain an overall understanding of industry landscape to ensure that we are deploying best-practice solutions
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
11. Minimum of 8-10 years working either in a biopharmaceutical company or a consulting organization with focus on the life sciences sector
12. Minimum 5 years working in a data management capacity
13. High analytical capability with history of leveraging data and analytical techniques to optimize business decisions. Willingness to be strategic and hands-on as required
14. Thorough knowledge and operational skills in data governance, data quality methods, storage repositories, and tools
15. Experience designing and deploying automated data quality issue identification and remediation tools (e.g., RPA to automate repetitive and rule-based tasks including running test scripts)
16. Experience working with data in a modern data platform / architecture (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and with third-party cataloging solutions (e.g., Collibra, Alation)
17. Understanding of the industry landscape and global regulatory requirements (e.g. GxP, HIPAA. GDPR, etc..).
18. Work closely with other BIS team members and develop analytical and reporting solutions
