The role
We have a unique opportunity to join the International Trade team in Brussels!
DLA Piper’s International Trade team advocates for companies, industry associations, and governments in trade defense investigations, encompassing anti-dumping and anti-subsidy cases, not only within the EU but also across global markets including China, India, Jordan, Morocco, Turkey, the United States, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and others.
In addition, our team supports clients navigating market access complexities, facilitating the import and export of goods from and to the EU. Our team also provides clients its expertise and guidance on World Trade Organization (WTO) law and policy. Moreover, the team offers specialized counsel on EU Trade and Regulatory issues, identifying and leveraging opportunities while addressing the challenges posed by EU trade legislation. The team also supports clients with regards to economic sanctions and export controls, ensuring their full compliance in a dynamic geopolitical trade environment.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
By joining our International Trade team, you will be supporting the team to develop and achieve our joint goals. Candidates will enjoy a uniquely dynamic range of work and responsibility and their task will include:
* Assisting in supporting the team with existing workload but also have opportunity to enhance business development output, by developing initiatives to promote the expertise and drafting policy analysis for clients and prospective clients
* Following up clients and handling of their matters
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a candidate to join our International Trade team for a 6-month as Stagiaire or Paralegal at our Brussels office.
The ideal candidate will:
* Be in the final year in the five-year cycle at a University, or have a Master 2 specializing in one of our areas of business law, or have completed a dual degree program (e.g. legal studies combined with business school), or have an LLM
* Have completed at least one significant internship (law firm, European Commission, WTO, government, etc.) is a plus
* Have an excellent command of English (essential) and a command of other languages is an advantage
* Have prior working experiences abroad are highly valued
* Take pride in their work, with attention to detail
* Adapt their approach based on the situation, overcoming obstacles and setbacks
* Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility
* Be a strong team player, willing to work on diverse subjects within multi-disciplinary teams
* Be eager to support the Trade and Government Affairs teams in business development activities
