As a scientific expert at Clario, the Principal Scientific Advisor provides scientific guidance and analysis to the Sales, Marketing and Client Services functions in a software company that creates electronic data collection systems for clinical trials.
Principal Science Advisors are subject matter experts within a particular area, may lead a team of other science advisors. They are responsible for driving the sales and delivery of Clario services with extensive domain knowledge for at least one therapy area and/or clinical trial technology. This role focuses on movement analysis, specifically gait and balance disorders, and requires expertise in Clario’s Precision Motion (Opal wearable device technology) solution for clinical trials. The Principal Scientific Advisor leads scientific strategies, supports business functions, and ensures that Clario’s solutions align with clinical trial requirements and regulatory standards.

What you'll be doing
Sales support:
* Lead the scientific direction for clinical trial services related to movement analysis and digital mobility biomarkers within Clario.
* Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in gait and balance disorders, providing guidance on study design, data collection, regulatory considerations, and best practices.
* Oversee and manage the process for reviewing study protocols from prospective customers & respond rapidly to meet client timelines.
* Direct the data collection design strategy for Clario’s Precision Motion solutions based on best practices, knowledge of literature, compliance, patient/site preference and applicable regulations.
* Lead the scientific support and content development for pre-sales engagements, capability and bid defense presentations.
* Develop and refine science-driven content for customer presentations, proposals, industry discussions, and conferences.
Client Services support:
* Oversee the scientific project handoff from sales to services, ensuring study objectives are clearly communicated.
* Provide input & documentation for implementation of data collection design strategy in conjunction with Client Services staff, including protocol review, test order and instructions, etc.
* Lead the development and delivery of training for Client Services staff regarding movement endpoint design, scientific objectives of proposals, best practices, etc.
* Supervise and manage scientific support for Client Services at selected post sales customer meetings.
Marketing support:
* Lead the scientific input to product development decisions for Clario’s Precision Motion services.
* Develop, produce, and deliver presentations at professional forums, Clario’s webinar, conferences & meetings.
* Lead the preparation and review of publications, abstracts & white papers.
* Design and lead scientific projects which are designed to obtain marketing information.
* Stay current with scientific advancements, regulatory guidelines, and best practices impacting digital assessments in movement analysis.
* Lead the strategy for discussions with other industry scientists to facilitate Clario’s deliverables to clients.
* Direct the design of research studies and develop internal research pipeline and external outreach including webinars, abstracts, papers, white papers and related content.
* Engage with industry leaders, regulatory agencies, and scientific communities to shape Clario’s offerings in mobility-related clinical trials.
Work conditions:
* Travel approximately 20% of the time to support business development, client interactions, and industry engagements.
* Other related duties and projects as assigned.
What we look for
* PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Neuroscience, Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering) with focus in gait and balance disorders (Minimum 5-7+ years relevant experience).
* Recognized expertise in movement analysis, particularly gait and balance impairments, with a strong understanding of digital clinical assessments and digital biomarker development.
* Expertise in use of Opals and Mobility Lab to measure balance and gait in patients with neurodegenerative disease required.
* Hands-on experience with Clario’s Opal device or similar wearable sensor technologies for gait and balance assessments.
* Experience in designing, implementing, and analyzing mobility-related outcomes in clinical trials using wearable technology.
* Strong presentation skills with experience engaging in pre-sales and post-sales scientific discussions.
* Industry experience in clinical trial technology, digital health, or pharmaceutical research is highly desirable.
* Significant industry and market experience in conduct of clinical trials and drug development cycle.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of business principles, including budgets, sales metrics/forecasting, and basic financial acumen.
* Industry recognized experience as a scientific expert and/or scientific team leader.
* Established knowledge needs and challenges of clinical trials, Phase I-III. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to understand and communicate with representatives from a range of disciplines within biopharmaceutical development.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, and balance workload and timelines; Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
