For future large construction projects at BESIX, we are looking for experienced Project Directors.
To reinforce our teams in Europe & Africa, BESIX is searching for Project Directors with relevant work experience abroad as a Project Director on projects above €150 million, who want to build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and multidisciplinary companies with a leading position in its markets: construction, property development, and concessions.
The purpose of this position is to perform essential construction management duties and functions as listed below with the overall objective of establishing a construction execution framework on the project(s) and ensuring the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and BESIX profitability of the assigned project(s). The Project Director also works closely with General Management and Business Development to target and pre-position for opportunities in a region or country.
Duties and responsibilities:
* You will supervise and coordinate the successful completion of your project in accordance with client requirements, organizational policies/procedures, contract, time, and cost specifications;
* You will coordinate (with the Procurement Team) all third parties, negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout all stages in the development of the project life cycle, and participate in and handle tenders and contracts;
* You will participate in the preparation and negotiation of contracts and ensure delivery and adherence to contractual requirements;
* You will validate contractual options, whether technical, financial, or time-related;
* You will take care of the contractual and financial follow-up and budget control;
* You will engage in social contacts and public relations to the benefit of the Company;
* You will implement project budgets and resources, enforce project standards, conduct technical reviews, manage team allocation, mobilize qualified personnel, and prepare monthly progress reports;
* You will actively participate in the business community and build relationships within the industry to generate and enhance business opportunities;
* You will proactively manage the training and professional development of project employees;
* You will possess in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge to deal with situations in a background of conceptual understanding;
* You will be an experienced people and team manager, seeking consensus and being a good listener;
* You will have an advanced understanding of contract management;
* You will have a deep knowledge of technical complex domains and a very good knowledge of site organization;
* You will have the ability to assess issues rapidly, develop alternative solutions, and implement pragmatic strategies;
* You will be an excellent communicator to both internal and external parties;
* You will be able to negotiate at a high level and in complex environments;
* You will be professional, entrepreneurial, and result-oriented;
* You will have a high degree of flexibility and adaptability;
* You will be commercially gifted.
Qualifications:
* You have an academic degree in Engineering (construction or architecture);
* You have proven a track record with at least 15 years of relevant working experience within a major construction company, having managed large complex construction projects (> €150 million) in buildings or civil or marine & infrastructure works;
* You possess in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge to deal with situations in a background of conceptual understanding;
* You have gained excellent experience in claim handling and contract management (FIDIC);
* You are fluent in English, plus any other European language; French or Dutch is an asset.
You are preferably willing to work and live abroad. You are flexible in terms of working area. Please indicate in your motivation letter in which area you would preferably work.
