Job Description
The Global Director Business Development (GBDM) provides leadership and coaching to the Business Development Managers and is responsible for the management of all business development activities of SGS Clinical Research, identifying and exploring strategic business development opportunities to maximize organization growth.
Together with the team the GBDM will ensure a continual development of current and future client accounts and will support in building up and strengthening the relationship with new clients and key accounts.
The GBDM works in close collaboration with the Contract Management, the Proposal Development and the Operational teams to ensure proper planning and progression of strategic projects, efficient establishment of cross-departmental communication lines and identification and development of improvement projects related to the BDM department and activities. There is a close collaboration with the Marketing team for all marketing related activities (conferences, webinars, targeted campaigns…) and follow up of all leads coming out of the marketing initiatives.
What does this mean?
1. management, supervision and coaching of the Business Development Managers/Account Managers
2. be accountable for the target realization of the sales and business development activities for Clinical Research
3. support in building up and strengthening the relationship with new and key clients
4. with your extensive knowledge of current market evolutions and conditions you will be responsible for the growth of our Clinical Research Business with both new and existing customers, with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and repeat business
5. network actively to identify new opportunities in the (bio)pharmaceutical industry and establish key relationships
6. negotiate and close business deals
7. build strong relationships with the internal functional departments and maintain in depth knowledge of their services in order to support lateral business opportunities
8. represent customer needs to internal functional departments and follow up on the proposal and contract development process
9. further develop and maintain the CRM database
Qualifications
What do you need to be successful?
10. You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business or equivalent educational background.
11. You have substantial and successful experience in leading a Business Development team within the fields of Clinical Research and CRO business, or other associated, relevant businesses.
12. You have a proven track record of minimum 10 years in sales and/or business development within the Life Sciences industry.
13. The clinical drug development process and market has no secrets for you!
14. You are totally fluent in English
