The imec business offering consists of open innovation programs, bilateral R&D collaborations and private services, encompassing various advanced technology fields such as lithography, logic, memory and 3D integration. In collaboration with the technical units BD shapes the supplier strategy, develops new business offerings, and prepares the imec value proposal to partners. In view of the European Chips Act, imec is significantly expanding the partnerships with Equipment and Material Suppliers. In this context imec is expanding the business team of the Equipment and Material suppliers, with a Business Development Director. You will report to the Equipment & Materials Suppliers- Business Line team lead. This is a highly visible and impactful role with strong impact on the imec and long-term strategy.
The job
As Business Development Director, you are responsible for the strategic partnerships in your portfolio of equipment and material companies: What you will do: Strategy:
1. Build and manage the long term strategy for a portfolio of equipment and material partners in close collaboration with the technical units
2. Develops the business plan for a product portfolio with the technical units and takes responsibility for business implementation.
3. Defines the go-to- market strategy, business model, pricing and IP strategy for product lines and prepares the value proposition in close collaboration with the technical unit
4. Translate market feedback and market trends in developing new strategic opportunities
5. Coordinate the cross functional business team with Fab, Process and Procurement responsible for specific equipment area, to shape the customer and product strategy
Account management:
6. Accountable for building partnerships and revenue growth at key accounts
7. Manage several key accounts and defines the account strategy, relationships and investment plans
8. Negotiate and close business deals at senior or executive level (typical > 10MEuro deal size)
9. Coordinate contract closures in collaboration with legal, IP and business operations.
10. Report out on account status, customer satisfaction and business opportunities.
11. Trusted partner for (internal and external) senior management stakeholders, and escalation path in case of issues.
Business management:
12. Grow imec revenues and profitability for larger companies in Equipment and material suppliers team’s portfolio to meet imec targets.
13. Report out on financial results and ownership of improvements plans
14. Financial planning and forecasting
15. Leading improvement projects for operational systems and processes.
Provides guidance to team members (BD managers) and have impact on their sales negotiations by coaching them through effective business management best practices

Who you are
16. You have a track record in business development, product management or product marketing with more than 10 years of experience in the semiconductor ecosystem, ideally at equipment or material manufacturers.
17. You have experience with financial analyses and Business plan definition
18. You have demonstrated experience with long-term stakeholder management.
19. You have a proactive and confident personality and an enthusiastic team player, able to inspire colleagues with less experience within the Business Development organization
20. You have strategic vision and provide your input in strategic proposals.
21. You have strong communication and relation building skills to grow partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
22. You are fluent in English; other languages are an asset.
23. You enjoy business travel to attend customer meetings and technical conferences: 10%~20%.
24. You have demonstrated capability of handling the administrative part of the business development job, including financial reporting, customer opportunity management, contractual closures, and can provide leadership to make operational improvements.
25. You are able to be present onsite in Leuven 3-4 days per week.
