Director of Mining, Europe – Drive Strategic Leadership in a Dynamic Industry
As the Director of Mining, Europe, you’ll take charge of geology and mining activities across multiple European divisions, covering over 40 sites in 10 countries. Reporting directly to the VP of Technical, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Europe, you’ll provide strategic oversight while working closely with regional teams in a decentralised organisational structure. This is a unique chance to make a long-term impact in a critical, newly established position designed to strengthen operations, innovate processes, and ensure sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Safety & Compliance: Champion safety and environmental standards while ensuring regulatory compliance across all mining activities.
* Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement region-wide mining strategies aligned with global objectives, supporting expansion and operational excellence.
* Operational Excellence: Oversee geological modeling, mining plans, and resource optimisation to enhance productivity and cost efficiency.
* Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with divisional heads and foster collaboration across technical teams to meet strategic goals.
* Innovation: Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency, sustainability, and safety in mining practices.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the company at the regional and global levels, managing relationships with key stakeholders and external entities.
What You’ll Bring:
* A Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field. An MBA is an advantage.
* At least 10 years of experience in the mining industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
* Strong knowledge of European mining regulations and industry standards.
* Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work in a complex matrix organisation.
* Fluency in English; proficiency in French or German is a plus.
* A proven ability to navigate cultural differences and lead diverse, geographically distributed teams.
