The Department of Biomedical Sciences in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences is looking for a full-time (%) postdoctoral scientist in the field of innate immunity and cell death signaling .
Position
1. You will be in charge of a research project investigating how post-translational regulation of the signalling pathways leading to pyroptosis and other types of cell death modulate innate immune responses in health and disease.
2. You will assist in other ongoing research projects in the Cell Death Signaling lab, all of which are related to investigating the role of cell death in innate immune responses.
3. You will be encouraged to attract external funding to support your research.
4. You will assist in the supervision of PhD students and other team members.
5. You will publish scientific articles related to the research project.
6. You will carry out a limited number of teaching support tasks such as guidance of Bachelor and Master students.
Profile
7. You hold a PhD in Molecular Biology, Immunology or related fields (or you will have obtained it by the time you start work).
8. Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and .
9. You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
10. Since the project involves in vivo research using laboratory mice it is essential to have a FELASA C certificate or an equivalent diploma that allows working with laboratory animals in Belgium. Prior laboratory experience with mouse research is required.
11. A keen interest and prior research experiences in the fields of inflammation, immunology, and/or cell death are required.
12. Prior experiences in laboratory techniques for analysing immune responses or cell death responses are recommended.
13. Prior experiences with cell culture of primary murine and/or human cells are recommended.
14. Prior experiences in analysing RNA sequencing or other large datasets are recommended.
15. You can speak and write fluently in English.
16. You have published at least one first author paper in a high impact peer-reviewed A1 journal.
What we offer
17. We offer a full-time appointment as a postdoctoral researcher for a period of three years.
18. The planned start date is flexible but not later than January 1st .
19. Your monthly salary is calculated according to the for postdoctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
20. You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
