The Data Management team at Ageas focuses on helping the Corporate Centre derive value from data through effective data management and governance. They are implementing a modern cloud-based data platform as a trusted and secure source for reporting and analytics. The mission is to develop an efficient data architecture and deliver reporting solutions that add value to the Corporate Centre, while also promoting data governance and data literacy across the organization.
The Data Modeler plays a key role in modeling data requests from the Corporate Centre, ensuring scalability, consistency, and efficiency in data structures. Additionally, the Data Modeler leads junior data engineers and supports the business in effectively using data for decision-making. Ageas is looking for a Data Analyst & Modeller to implement new use cases for the Data Platform and support existing ones.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Data Analysis
* Lead discussions with business stakeholders to identify new use cases and shape the requirements to ensure desired business outcomes can be achieved in an efficient and sustainable way;
* Develop a sound understanding of the target business domains;
* Perform functional analysis (including identification, analysis and data profiling of the data sources, definition of business rules and transformations, definition of quality criteria, source-to-target mapping);
* Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation;
* Prepare and execute test plans; supports the Ageas BI Centre and business users during UAT;
* Analyse incidents and contribute to their resolution;
* Understand and translate business needs into conceptual and logical data models according to company standards and guidelines (Data Vault and dimensional modelling), considering the required flexibility to cope with evolving needs;
* Ensure consistency across data models, foster integration and reuse across departments, and ultimately avoid unnecessary data redundancies;
* Propose improvements to the company’s data modelling approach (methodologies, standards, guidelines);
* Propose improvements to the company’s implemented data models and feeding pipelines to fight entropy and align with future needs;
* Create data dictionaries and populate business glossary;
* Work with AG IT (= IT supplier) for the creation of physical data models and data pipelines;
* Lead discussions with Corporate Centre and AG IT architects to improve and extend the overall data platform architecture and infrastructure;
* Lead discussions with architects and business stakeholders to improve and rationalise the Corporate Centre’s overall data architecture and infrastructure.
Profile
Background and Experience
Ageas is looking for a candidate with strong expertise in data modeling. You should have experience in business, functional, and data analysis, including writing and executing SQL queries. You have experience with data warehousing and ETL.
Knowledge of Data Vault (Linstedt) and dimensional modeling (Kimball) is a plus. A Data Vault 2.0 Practitioner certification is a plus.
The ideal candidate should be technically proficient and capable of leading the data architecture and documentation efforts within the team. The role requires a strong technical foundation while also having the ability to guide and mentor the team through complex data architecture challenges. The candidate must be comfortable with working transversally across various teams within Ageas, collaborating with different stakeholders from various departments.
