We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering to lead our engineering team and drive the technical strategy for our SaaS products. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a strong leader, and have a proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams in a dynamic startup environment. As the Head of Engineering, you will play a key role in shaping our technology roadmap, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. This role is based out of Antwerp, Belgium.
Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership: Define and execute the technical vision and strategy for our SaaS products, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
2. Team Management: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
3. Product Development: Oversee the end-to-end product development process, from ideation and design to implementation and deployment, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
4. Architecture & Infrastructure: Lead the design and architecture of scalable, secure, and reliable software systems, making key technical decisions to drive product excellence.
5. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to deliver products that meet customer needs and exceed expectations.
6. Quality Assurance: Implement best practices for software development, testing, and deployment to ensure high-quality code and reliable product performance.
7. Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and driving the adoption of new tools and methodologies.
8. Resource Management: Manage engineering budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring optimal allocation to achieve strategic objectives.
Requirements:
1. General Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a SaaS or technology startup environment.
2. Technical Expertise: Strong background in software development (especially back end), architecture, and cloud technologies, with proficiency in NodeJS, React, MongoDB, Google Cloud Platform (oa. Big Table, cloud functions). Experience building applications at massive scale. We are building an application that will host 100s of millions and over time billions of records of data, and handle 100s of millions of API calls per day that need to respond within 1 second.
3. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing engineering teams, with a focus on fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
4. Strategic Vision: Demonstrated experience in defining and executing technical strategies that align with business goals and drive product innovation.
5. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
6. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering solutions to complex technical challenges.
7. Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, with a proactive and flexible approach to changing priorities and demands.
8. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
