The scope
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, you will get the opportunity to take on financial management from A to Z, make process optimization proposals and will serve as a reliable financial business advisor.
You will produce accurate financial records that help the organisation make decisions and liaise with payroll office, banks and linked suppliers.
Your key responsibilities: Accounting (50%) & Finance (50%)
1. Responsible for managing the day-to-day finances of the company in accordance with Belgian law. This includes accounting of transactions, VAT and financial reporting.
2. Organizing the accountancy in collaboration with an administrative colleague (including reporting, VAT, annual accounts, audit,…)
3. Responsible for forecasts, budgeting, reporting and cash management
4. Coordinating the monthly and quarterly, closing processes
5. Supporting M&A transactions (due diligence, ...)
6. Managing relationships with auditors, accounting firms, accounting software suppliers and banks
7. Active participation in following-up ad hoc analyses at the request of the Board
8. Active participation in optimising financial procedures, software and other tools.
9. Overall management of the accounts from A to Z: Supervise and organise the invoicing, bookkeeping according to Belgian accounting standards (general and analytical), budgeting and financial and cash management processes.
10. Development, coordination and implementation of an efficient qualitative accounting system; ensuring that financial records are kept accurate and up to date;
11. Ensure the reliability of current accounting operations: purchases, sales, salaries, statements of claims…;
12. Management accounting: verify income and expenses to relevant budget codes for internal budget control and reporting;
13. Accounts payable: collect, record and file invoices, get approval for payment, prepare payments, send proofs of payment when required;
14. Manage accounts receivable: invoicing of third parties for fees and costs reimbursements, follow up on payments, send requests for payments to members, monitor bank accounts for funds received and confirm reception as required;
15. Book costs, income, bank and credit card statements in the accounting system; prepare reconciliations and statement for management;
16. Preparation of customised reporting, follow-up and financial and narrative reports and statistics (balance sheets, P&L, cash flow, financial statements etc.);
17. Preparation of the annual budget of the company in collaboration with the Partners
18. Monitor the cash-flow of the company and set-up appropriate monitoring tools
19. Manage and prepare social and tax declarations (down payments, quarterly VAT, IPM, taxes, NBB balance sheets, etc.)
20. Coordinate, gather information and prepare supporting documents for the annual statutory audit and assistance to external auditors in the review of financial operations and financial controls
Contacts with Consultants and Directors
21. Overseeing and collection of Consultants’ timesheets and expense notes which includes verifying the invoices issuing of Consultants invoices as well as debt collection and reimbursements
22. The Finance & Accounting Manager will be reporting to the Director of Operations
Your Profile: Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
23. A Master in Applied/Business Economics, Corporate Finance or relevant for the position
24. Excellent command of French with fluency in Dutch and English (min. B2 level or willingness to improve your level thanks to language classes)
25. A relevant experience (3-4 yrs) in a similar position - Finance & Accounting or Audit - combining operations, control, and strategy
26. Strong track record in financial reporting, general accounting matters and the preparation of monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annual accounts and organisational audits
27. Comprehensive and updated knowledge of the accounting law, fiscal and tax legislation and procedures
28. Computer skills knowledge of accountancy and bookkeeping software and work smoothly with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
29. Effective communication skills with colleagues at all levels of the organization
30. A high level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and reasoning
31. Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
32. Proactive, team player, rigorous, problem solver, attention to details and well organized
33. Familiarity with a Consulting work environment is an asset
