Job Opportunity: Strategic Partnerships Leader
Hours: Part-time (80%)
Starting date: As soon as possible
Duration: 12-month limited contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of funds
Location: Remotely in Brussels, Belgium, with travels to Berlin, Germany
Department & Reporting Line: Executive Office, reporting to Head of Strategic Partnerships
Key Responsibilities
* You oversee and lead strategic outreach and build strong partnerships with the EU (EEAS, Commission).
* You support and advise on funding opportunities to the EU, including grant-writing.
* You monitor relevant policy developments and funding mechanisms, build strong relationships, and create new opportunities for collaboration.
* You coordinate Berghof Foundation’s internal contacts, touchpoints, and relationships with EU actors and peacebuilding organizations, acting as the first point of contact in Brussels.
* You build a systematic knowledge base and introduce suitable formats for advancing internal understanding of the EU.
* You advance evidence-based policy influencing with MEPs and key decision-makers at EEAS and Commission, covering key themes such as insider mediation, the climate–conflict nexus, and MHPSS and mediation.
* You provide advice on advocacy opportunities and lead the creation of policy positions and initiatives, in collaboration with senior advisors and like-minded organizations.
* You contribute to relevant discussions and regularly attend conferences and roundtables in the EU policy scene in Brussels.
Your Knowledge, Experience & Skills
* You hold a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or similar.
* You have 7+ years of relevant work experience, the majority of which is in Brussels.
* Proven experience in developing, negotiating, and managing partnerships and coalitions with the EU, ideally in the field of peacebuilding/peace mediation.
* Experience in proposal writing and policy monitoring and trend spotting of relevant developments.
* Strong organizational, networking, communication, and coordination skills.
* Excellent cross-functional and remote collaboration skills.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.

The contract duration of the part-time position is limited to 12 months, depending on the availability of project funds. Please note that this position is based in Brussels, with occasional visits to the head office in Berlin.
