Position
As Strategic Buyer Logistics, you will be responsible for a range of strategic procurement activities related to transport and logistics to ensure both a resilient supply chain and adequate supplier performance and development on both short and long-term basis. In doing so, you will be working across several functions and serve as the link between Supply Chain and external suppliers.
Tasks / responsibilities
1. You define, recommend and implement the procurement strategy for our logistical suppliers by doing research on supplier market dynamics, cost drivers, supplier business & total cost of ownership models, historical spend etc. You identify opportunities in the market that can add value to our internal customers (new products, new applications, …) and ensure this knowledge is shared within the organization (document in knowledge management system).
2. You build relationships across the organization, negotiate with the suppliers in order to permanently improve our logistical processes and prices/cost drivers.
3. You manage the supplier relationship, supplier certification programs and you define and track KPI’s related to the improvement of the service levels and report on savings and forecasts at Group level.
4. You lead, assist and/or participate in logistical, cross functional and contingency plan teams (Complains handling, Invoicing issues,…).
You report to the VP Supply Chain.
Profile
5. You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics or Economics.
6. You are a young graduate, or you have at least 1 to 2 years’ experience as a buyer in the logistics and transportation world (maritime, road and rail transportation).
7. You have a firm understanding of transportation and logistics end user expectations (maritime, road and rail transportation).
8. You have experience with the strategic sourcing process, contracting and supplier relationship management.
9. You are able to work in multi-functional teams and to manage stakeholders.
10. You are a quick learner who communicates well and has experience with working in an international environment.
11. You have strong planning and organizational abilities.
12. You are a self-starter who can manage projects. Six Sigma certified is a plus.
13. You develop a strong business understanding.
14. You have strong influencing and negotiation skills.
