CRE Underwriter
Location: VA Office
The primary role of the Junior CRE Underwriter position is to support business development officers in the underwriting process for current and prospective Commercial Real Estate, HOA, and Co-op lending transactions.
1. Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for analysis and underwriting of current and prospective Commercial Real Estate, HOA, and Co-op lending transactions. The Junior CRE Underwriter works closely with loan origination and external deal partners for the purposes of prospecting new transactions and analyzing the credit quality of prospective and current business. Analysis includes preparing and reviewing a spreadsheet of historical financial data, evaluating the impact of new debt on current cash flow, sensitizing projections for worst-case scenarios, and identifying policy exceptions. In addition to financial review, a collateral and industry assessment is included in a written presentation, which also summarizes strengths and weaknesses of credit and a recommendation to decline or approve the request. 2. Portfolio and Industry Analysis:
Provide portfolio and industry analysis as necessary for portfolio and prospective new business. Stay abreast of market conditions and other changes that impact the conduit line of business using the Internet and other research tools. Perform periodical reviews of existing loan relationships of the Bank. Assist with routine maintenance of credit files and Bank systems including the financial tracking system. (10%)
3. Special Projects/Other:
Assist in completing annual reviews of the commercial portfolio. Perform other duties as assigned. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications Include:
1. BA/BS in finance, real estate finance, or related field.
2. Desire to learn commercial real estate and finance.
3. Proficiency in business writing skills and strong communication skills.
4. Attention to detail and analytically minded.
5. Proficient computer skills (Excel skills are a must).
