The Sr. Director, Operations has overall responsibility for a single manufacturing facility. Directs all aspects of production activity at the assigned plant to ensure that the desired quantities and quality of products are manufactured on schedule in a safe manner at minimum cost. May be responsible for Accounting, Human Resources and other staff functions.
Major Position Responsibilities
* Directs manufacturing operations and management teams for plants and locations of an organization that support business goals.
* Incorporates the organizational strategy and plans for operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs in manufacturing processes.
* Monitors production metrics and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency.
* Drives workforce planning activities and approves/allocates resources based on business priorities.
* Implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes.
* Leads and directs the work of other managers and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
* Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment.
* Provides leadership and direction through managers.
* Must have at least one manager level direct report.
* Is accountable for the performance and results of a division or region.
* Executes business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategy.
* Decisions are guided by functional or major operational segment strategy and priorities.
Basic Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
* Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business.
* Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/ or Experience.
* 10-12 years of experience in a relevant function.
Must Have Major Competencies/Skills:
* Leadership skills. Capacity planning.
* Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM).
* Manufacturing operations management. Process optimization. Resource planning.
* Risk management. Safety policies and procedures.
* Performance metrics. Organizational goal setting. Strategic planning.
* Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Team building. ERP systems.
Physical Demands:
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
* Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
* Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Travel:
* Less than 25% travel likely.
