You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from concept development and prototyping to final production, ensuring product solutions are safe, effective, and manufacturable at scale.
This position requires a hands-on approach to mechanical design, leveraging CAD modeling, prototyping, and testing to refine device performance and usability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including biomedical, electrical, and software engineers, as well as regulatory and quality teams, to ensure that products meet medical industry standards.
In addition to technical development, you will work with external manufacturing partners and suppliers to optimize production processes, ensuring that designs are scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with quality requirements. You will be responsible for integrating manufacturing best practices early in the design phase, reducing production risks and improving efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create and refine CAD models and engineering drawings for medical devices and components.
* Develop concepts, prototypes, and detailed designs for new and existing products.
* Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and design reviews.
* Build, test, and iterate functional prototypes using 3D printing, machining, and other fabrication methods.
* Plan and execute verification and validation testing to meet regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
* Work closely with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to ensure smooth production processes.
* Evaluate materials, tolerances, and manufacturing techniques to optimize cost and performance.
* Work with biomedical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate mechanical designs with other system components.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
* 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in medical devices or a regulated industry.
* Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
* Experience with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and machining techniques.
* Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and material selection.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
The Offer:
* Opportunity to work on life-changing medical technologies.
