Established in 1992, EDFI brings together 15 bilateral European Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) managing a combined portfolio of €53 billion, including over €15 billion dedicated to climate finance. In partnership with institutions like USDFC and FinDev Canada, EDFI supports and promotes impactful investments in developing countries.
Our mission is to enhance professional networks, inform policy, and drive innovation in industry standards. EDFI collaborates with key global partners, including Multilateral Development Banks, impact investors, EU institutions, and advocacy organizations.

With Whom Will You Be Working?
The vacant positions are in the EDFI Secretariat, based in Brussels. The Secretariat team consists of a dynamic and diverse group of 10 professionals who operate in a cross-functional environment. The team has a strong external outlook and is closely connected to employees and the operations of our member organizations.

As Policy Adviser, you will play a crucial role in shaping EDFI’s policy initiatives, providing analysis on regulatory issues, especially related to ESG standards and sustainable finance. You will help guide EDFI’s advocacy efforts and collaborate with policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to further sustainable development finance practices.
Key responsibilities:
* Conduct research on policy, regulatory, and industry trends related to sustainable finance at European and global levels.
* Track and analyse legislation on financial institution frameworks.
* Coordinate EDFI members on responsible investment topics.
* Engage with EU and international institutions (e.g., G7 DFI Alliance, FICS), preparing materials and inputs.
* Implement the advocacy strategy on sustainable finance and prudential regulations.
* Build relationships with key stakeholders, including European Supervisory Authorities.
* Organize and attend events with relevant EU Commission officials, MEPs, and others.
* Contribute to EDFI papers on sustainable finance and policy.
* Support collaborative initiatives with EFAD partners, such as JEFIC and PN.
* Assist in preparing proposals for new initiatives.
Profil
Required skills and experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
* A university degree in economics, public policy, political science, law, or a related field.
* At least 2 years of experience in policy analysis and advocacy, particularly in sustainable finance, at the EU or international level.
* Familiarity with EU regulatory initiatives in sustainable finance and development finance.
* Strong communication skills, including public speaking and expert discussions.
* Expertise in quantitative analysis, business writing, and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage complex tasks and meet deadlines.
* Strong influencing, persuasion, and diplomatic skills.
* Team-oriented, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
* Fluent in English (other EU languages are a plus).

* This position is based in Brussels. EDFI welcomes applications from candidates who hold a valid work permit for Belgium. If you currently reside outside Belgium, please be prepared to relocate to Brussels at your own expense.
