Position Purpose
The QHS Director is a critical leadership role responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Quality, Health and Safety (QHS) Management System. The role will champion a culture of safety and compliance across all levels of the organization, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations, standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an integrated QHS Management System.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national and European regulations.
* Develop, implement and maintain QHS policies, procedures, and work instructions.
* Build internal audit program based on risk and audit score to assess the effectiveness of the QHS Management System.
* Oversee the investigation and resolution of non-conformances and corrective/preventive actions.
* Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
* Develop and implement safety programs, including hazard assessments, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
* Promote a strong safety culture through training, communication, and employee engagement initiatives.
* Oversee industrial hygiene programs, including monitoring and control of workplace hazards.
* Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
* Support the business in conducting environmental impact assessments and obtain necessary permits.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
* Oversee quality control processes, including inspections, testing, and product release.
* Follow-up and report on trends with regard to non-conformance and customer complaints.
* Implement, review and maintain the Tosca quality assurance programs.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of QHS professionals.
* Collaborate with other departments to integrate QHS principles into all aspects of business operations.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and customers.
* Prepare and present regular reports on QHS performance to leadership.
* Effectively communicate QHS policies, procedures, and incidents to all employees.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date QHS records and documentation.
Your skills and experience
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years of progressive experience in a QHS leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Proven experience in developing and implementing integrated QHS management systems.
* Strong knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, FDA, etc.) and industry standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Fluency, both written and spoken in English. Knowledge of German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch or any other language is considered a plus.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience with environmental permitting and compliance.
* Continuous improvement methodologies skills are a value add.
