The expansion of the Global Product Sustainability Department means we are now looking to recruit newSustainable Construction & LCA Performance Engineerin Visé, Belgium and reporting to the Knauf Group LCA&EPD Project Manager.

* Can you confirm that you have proven experience in using Building LCA tools and EPD databases to assess the environmental impacts of construction systems and buildings?
* Have you ever worked with international teams to harmonize processes or tools related to environmental assessment?
* Are you familiar with environmental certifications such as LEED, BREEAM or DGNB, and have you integrated them into your previous projects?
* Can you confirm that you are comfortable working with multicultural teams, motivating colleagues around sustainability issues, and passing on your knowledge by running training courses or raising awareness of environmental issues?
This role focuses on accelerating building decarbonization through Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) expertise, supporting the development of Knauf’s Corporate LCA Expertise Center. Covering a global product portfolio (plaster, insulation, steel frames, ceiling tiles, etc.) across 200+ plants, key responsibilities include optimizing and expanding EPDs, integrating digital tools (EPD databases, BIM, digital passports), benchmarking building LCA tools, aligning with regulations (EU Taxonomy, green procurement), and collaborating with R&D on sustainable product innovation. Additional tasks involve developing internal LCA tools, supporting certifications (LEED, BREEAM), monitoring market trends, standardization, and training internal teams to position Knauf as a leader in whole-building carbon performance.
What you’ll be doing:
* You manage LCA expectations and development at the system/building level with the relevant markets.
* You coordinate work with product managers, marketing, supply chain, technical teams, and any third party to develop an appropriate product portfolio.
* You adapt LCA processes in line with scientific advancements and/or methodology changes.
* You optimize calculations and products to achieve the best results.
* Based on results, you provide feedback to all involved teams, offering suggestions for improvement.
* You stay up to date with LCA software revisions.
* You contribute to:
* Creating the next-generation EPD—LCA as a service to customers.
* Digitalizing EPDs, including their integration into BIM.
* Aligning the LCA program with developments in the construction sector, such as regulations and green building rating schemes.
* Supporting management in developing LCA methods, standards, and applications (e.g., PEF, TC 350, ECO Platform, new indicators, circular economy).
* You support marketing communications, advocacy efforts, and the training of internal teams and external stakeholders/customers.
* You establish contacts with the scientific community, including universities, consultancies, and research institutes.
* You are the driving force behind the continuous improvement of processes and tools:
* You know and participate: Actively contribute to improvement proposals using the techniques and tools at your disposal.
* You apply: Regularly leverage your acquired skills (e.g., RCA, 5S, OPACO, improvement proposals/GME).
* You suggest: If you identify a potential improvement, bring it up along with a solution proposal for the project to be executed.
* You lead: When an improvement project is validated, and you have your hierarchy's agreement, you manage the project with the necessary leadership and teamwork.

If you have experience in the following areas – this is an added advantage:
* You hold a degree in environmental engineering, architecture, construction, or a comparable natural science or engineering field.
* You have 3+ years of professional experience using EPDs with Building LCA tools or publishing EPDs, with advanced knowledge of handling LCA parameters.
* You have experience with various LCA programs or national schemes (e.g., RE 2020, Nordics tools, EC3, one click LCA, etc.).
* You are knowledgeable about the relevant life cycle assessment methods and standards, such as EN 15804+A2 and EN 15978.
* You are certified assessor for LEED, WELL, DGNB, HQE or BREEAM
* You have expertise in program and project portfolio management.
* You are familiar with transformation processes and change management.
* You are proficient in written and spoken English; German and French being a plus.
* You are confident in handling MS Office applications and collaboration software.
* You are willing to travel occasionally (approximately 20-30%).
