Role description:
1. To understand and demonstrate the capability to influence and develop the Arcadis health and safety approach within a Business Area
2. The Senior H&S Manager (Associate level) is to demonstrate the ability to: Lead exceptional internal and external H&S responses and outcomes through service excellence across multiple, complex, challenging, and risky environments.
3. Bring thought H&S leadership based on their own subject matter expertise to the business and clients.

6. To manage or lead an H&S topic (i.e. Training) or delivery area (i.e. Water) to provide H&S information, guidance, and support.

8. To manage, promote, and lead Health and Safety hazards and risks discussions, ensuring that the information is captured with the H&S processes, i.e. HASP and HARC.

Culture and Behaviours
22. Encourages the right health and safety behaviours through engagement and demonstration of the Arcadis values.
23. Helps to develop the cultural and behavioural approach for Belgium.
Systems
24. Develop procedures and safe working practices are kept under review and where necessary updated to reflect changes in the legislation or best practice.
25. Involved in establishing country H&S goals and objectives consistent with the Global H&S strategic direction.
26. Establish and agree to key H&S performance targets and possibly financial budgets for the in-country H&S team in order to optimize business performance in line with set objectives.
27. Report progress on countries' H&S performance based on globally established goals and objectives. Able to identify and adjust strategy when targets are lagging.
Risk
28. Identifies hazards and risks associated with projects, ensuring that the health and safety documentation is in place to manage and control these issues.
29. Involved in the review and identification of project H&S hazards and risks, for input in HASP and HARC at a business unit level.
Assurance
30. Undertakes assurance activities to ensure H&S Compliance within the Business Unit.
31. Responsible for the completion of inspections, and audits by team members, so that all issues are monitored, closed out, and reported.
32. Audit other Arcadis Regions (globally) as part of the Global H&S auditing team
Manage H&S issues for identified by assurance activities and ensure that actions are closed and communicated, across all areas.
33. Prepare and attend external audits with regards to the conformance with ISO,, and in those Locations certified to the standard
Bid management and tender returns
34. Provide documentation, expertise, and advice on all H&S matters in relation to bidding and business development in the region
Competence and Training
35. Create, roll out, and continuously improve training and support for training where required, e.g., SHE coordinators, Fire Marshals, Quality Auditing, Performance Excellence Reviews, etc.
Innovation and Campaigns
36. Working collaboratively with other consultants, contractors, and government regulators to roll out leading-edge developments and best practice
37. Responsible for identifying and delivering initiatives and campaigns that will support activities and promote health and safety.
Engagement and communications
38. Facilitate the quarterly H&S Belgium GBA reps meeting
39. Communicate to the project lessons learned and alerts for all incidents developing a set of visual and essential standards
40. Produce HSSW alerts and lessons learned for all incidents on the project developing a set of visual and essential standards
41. Conducts Incident investigations and works with the project teams on incidents that occur to ensure that the H&S vision and values are maintained.
42. Ensure that there are consistent H&S communications, with information available on the Arcadis Intranet.
43. Collaborate with other functions e.g. HR, Property, FM, and Procurement where there is overlap with H&S requirements that are owned by other departments e.g. Induction, pregnancy, stress, etc.
Incident Management
44. Ensure that all accidents, environmental incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences are reported and investigated thoroughly and where necessary reported promptly to the enforcing authority and internally escalated as required
General
45. Provide Health & Safety advice to our teams across Belgium.
46. Provide expert technical advice on a wide range of health & safety aspects of construction projects, both to clients and internal stakeholders
47. Has specific and direct knowledge of health and safety for a number of specific sectors, i.e. Aviation, and specific topics, i.e. COSHH and Working at Height.
48. To encourage innovative thinking around how to improve health and safety
49. Generate and promote awareness and understanding of H&S at all levels in the country
50. Ensure global H&S standards are developed, maintained, and delivered consistently across the in-country BA through the in-country H&S organization working together with the country director.
51. Provides technical and organizational leadership in the country's Business Area. Support to H&S country manager and country director
52. Ensures global H&S strategy and GHSMSS are delivered consistently across the BA through the BA H&S organization working together with the H&S country manager and country director.
Qualifications & Experience:
53. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
54. Minimum of Grad professional status, or equivalent
55. Thorough understanding of one or more sectors
56. Effective project management, client relationship management, and commercial skills
57. Promote and demonstrate significant proactive Health and Safety leadership capability and the ability to inspire Arcadis staff on every level around the common purpose; growth of our proactive Health and Safety culture and international client recognition for our H&S achievements and services.
58. Holds a professional Health & Safety degree in any Arcadis-based country and has a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in H&S related to Arcadis business.
