Job Title: Lead for Green Finance Institute in Brussels
Contract: Initial 1 year fixed-term contract (with potential opportunity to extend)

As an independent not-for-profit company with a proven track record, our credibility, capability and cross-sector engagement enable us to respond to market barriers and develop solutions where others can’t.
The Green Finance Institute is an independent and trusted partner to Governments, financial organisations, corporates, NGOs, policymakers, academics and civil society experts to create and scale innovative solutions that accelerate the transition to a net-zero and nature positive economy.
Building on the success of the GFI in the UK, we have established teams in Denmark and Spain, and are now seeking to appoint a well-networked, high-calibre individual to lead our work in Brussels.
With the support of the wider GFI team, you will lead on establishing a full-time GFI presence in Brussels, following engagement work carried out September-March 2024/5, including an initial series of workshops focused on novel measures to close the clean tech investment gap in Europe.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute a high impact engagement, thought leadership and technical development programme.
* Develop an influential GFI network that includes key officials from the European Commission and European Investment Bank/European Investment Fund.
* Establish strategic relationships with senior figures in industry, government and funders.
* Build a strong and collegiate network with the wider GFI team.
* Navigating the political landscape in Brussels.
* Support fundraising activities at both national and European levels.
Minimum Requirements:
* Significant experience and a strong network in financial services or the European sustainable finance policy space.
* A proven track record as an effective political thinker with a strong understanding of policy-making dynamics in Brussels.
* Strong leadership skills with a proven track record.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Skilled problem-solver with the ability to identify the best solution available.
* Experience managing budgets and resources.
* A strong independent work ethic and ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
Useful Experience:
* Excellent public speaker.
