GaN Business Development Engineer & Technical Account Manager
BelGaN is a leading automotive-qualified GaN (Gallium-Nitride) foundry in Belgium, at the heart of the “GaN Valley TM ” ecosystem in Europe.
BelGaN is transforming into a dedicated GaN-focused semiconductor company. BelGaN will innovate, develop, and bring to market a roadmap of state-of-the-art and novel GaN technologies to build Chips for a Sustainable Electrified Future. To support its business growth, BelGaN is planning to further expand its Business Development team and is looking for multiple talented semiconductor engineers with knowledge of power semiconductor technologies and industry. Experience in GaN is a strong asset, but the function is also open for engineers & technical managers with background in other semiconductors (e.g. Si, SiC) or related domains (e.g. electronic circuits and power applications), that want to transition to the exciting and expanding world of GaN. We are providing an intense and high-quality training program on GaN science and technology.
Because of the novel & disruptive nature of GaN technologies and products, a close collaboration and even co-design between technologists (the R&D team in BelGaN) and product/system designers (our BelGaN customers) is mandatory to harvest the great potential of GaN, by creating products that are smaller/lighter, and much more energy efficient at lower system cost, than incumbent Si products.
The function of ‘GaN Business Development Engineer & Technical Account Manager’ is bridging between BelGaN R&D engineers and new customers & products for BelGaN technologies.
To assure a fast and intense connection between BelGaN’s newest technologies and customer & application needs, the function is part of the CTO organization. As such, the candidate will both promote and support the deployment of our new GaN technologies into BelGaN’s global markets, as well as contribute to defining customer/application needs that drive our roadmap for new and innovative GaN technology.
The main objectives of the function are:
* Scouting and Onboarding of new customers:
* Scouting the global GaN business landscape for new applications and customers.
* Promote our GaN technologies to new potential customers and markets.
* Engage with new target customers: provide all necessary technical information and documentation (datasheets, PDK, qualification reports etc.); provide GaN reference product samples and closely interact and support our customers in evaluating samples in customers’ products.
* Drive all activities that lead to onboarding new customers/products: new product sampling, support customer product design & TO, support product qualification, covering the complete process from intake, prototyping, production ordering and production ramp-up.
* Close technical follow-up and support to our customers in all aspects of using our GaN technologies to make their products successful, throughout the product lifecycle starting from product design (e.g. using our PDKs or co-design), through product qualification (e.g. reliability testing and data analysis) and product ramp-up to volumetric manufacturing, meeting performance/yield/quality/cost targets.
* Technical follow-up and support on customers’ products (yield, performance, reliability, application testing etc.), initiate and manage ongoing technical collaboration between the customer and the internal R&D and production engineering teams to drive continuous improvement in yield and quality.
* Work with the customers to develop a deep understanding of their future needs and strategic directions, to drive the internal market-driven innovation roadmap and technology improvements and realize long-term business continuity and growth with the account.
The ultimate objective of the function is to explore and unfold new business opportunities for BelGaN technologies at a global scale, and to onboard and support new customers for BelGaN throughout the product lifecycle, in close collaboration with the sales and R&D teams.
In all this, you will partner with our Sales team and bridge to specialists in our R&D teams to provide support and find solutions for our customers’ problems and drive further improvements in our technologies and supporting tools, like PDKs, to ensure we live up to and beyond our customers’ expectations. You will also be responsible for developing technical and marketing material (e.g. technical notes and demo set-ups) to advertise and demonstrate our technologies to potential customers and partners, e.g. through publishing in target journals, using digital marketing tools, building professional booths, and promoting BelGaN’s technologies at fairs, conferences, and other events.
Finally, you will be instrumental in building, managing, and supporting a ‘GaN Valley TM ’ ecosystem through promotion, setting up collaborations, partnerships, and common initiatives, to accelerate innovation and growth of a GaN industry in Europe and beyond.
Requirements
As GaN Business Development Engineer & Technical Account Manager:
* You are a MSc or PhD in the field of semiconductors. Know-how and hands-on experience with GaN technologies and products is an important asset, but any engineer with knowledge of power semiconductor technologies or products and interest in GaN might qualify (training is planned).
* You have affinity and experience in working with customers, developing, and growing new product lines, and you are empathic to deeply understand customer problems and needs, and provide solutions that satisfy and impress them.
* You are a passionate, quality-driven professional with a ‘get-it-done’ problem-solving attitude.
* You have strong communication skills, you are fluent in English, a natural networker, and an effective liaison between customers and internal expert teams.
* You have an appetite for innovation, keep yourself acquainted with progress in research and industry in the field of WBG, especially GaN.
