Internship Position
We are seeking an intern to contribute to cutting-edge robotics projects, particularly in implementing advanced control solutions for space R&D applications.
The intern will be participate in the design and development control algorithms and associated software for various robotic platforms (e.g., manipulators, UGVs, and exoskeletons). The Internship also involves implementing and testing control methods. It can be tailored to meet the requirements of a Master’s thesis.
The Internship is available at the Robotics, Mechanisms and Structure (RMS) Team (Systems Department).
The candidate will mainly report to the RMS Team Lead.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: 6 months
* Start date: Quarter 1, 2025
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Familiarise with:
o The objectives, use-cases, scope and requirements
o Existing facilities and robotic platforms
* Conduct in-depth modelling of the robotic systems
* Develop control algorithms and control strategy
* Implement software parts into an existing ROS2 framework
* Develop an analogue virtual environment for simulating the robot and validating the algorithms
* Test concepts on available robotic platforms and analyse the results
* Collaborate with cross-functional Teams, including robotics hardware and software engineers
* Share and document progress, challenges, and solutions to the Team.
Skills and Experience
* Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics or Control Engineering or a similar University program
* Good knowledge of:
o Robotics, covering kinematics, electronics, automation, and control
o Object-oriented programming in C/C++ and python
o ROS/ROS2, Gazebo simulator
* Familiar with Linux/Ubuntu environment
* Strength to self-disciplined and work ethic
* Creative, autonomous and rigorous mindset
* Good written and spoken English.
