Director Of European Institutional Relations

CMA CGM is looking to recruit a senior Director of European Institutional Relations in line with the company’s growth and increasing scope of regulation affecting the company’s business activities. The role will be based in Brussels, with regular travel to Marseille, Paris, and Strasbourg.
As part of the Executive Management team and reporting to the Diplomatic Adviser to the Chairman & CEO, you will be involved in implementing the Group's EU affairs strategy in Brussels, working with teams dedicated to national and global institutional relations.
Responsibilities
1. Relations with institutions: In constant dialogue with the Group's business divisions, you will represent CMA CGM Group's interests in dealings with the European institutions (Commission, Council, Parliament, Permanent Representations, professional organisations, etc.). You will establish and maintain strategic relations with all key stakeholders and keep the head office informed of current developments, proposing actions in line with the Group's strategic priorities.
2. Regulatory intelligence: Working with the head office teams, you will keep a constant watch on proposed EU regulations, analyse the potential impact on the company, draw up strategic recommendations, and implement them.
3. Advocacy: You will design and implement advocacy strategies, participating in relevant consultations, working groups, and think tanks.
4. Communications: Working with the Communications department, you will manage external communications relating to European public affairs and represent CMA CGM at events and meetings with stakeholders.
Requirements
1. Extensive experience in European public affairs, in a government ministry or EU institutional office or public affairs consultancy, association, or company, ideally in the field of maritime transport or logistics.
2. Excellent knowledge of the European institutions, decision-making processes, and the European political landscape. Ability to establish and maintain strategic relations with decision-makers within the European institutions.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in French and English. Other languages advantageous.
4. Influential and diplomatic personality. Proactive and highly responsive.
5. University Graduate in a relevant field of study, ideally with a Master’s degree in Political Science or European Affairs.
