Westinghouse OMS Major Projects Department is a rapidly expanding organization that is facing a wide variety of customer needs in different areas of the Europe, Latin America and Asia regions that are currently assigned to the organization. We are leader in the Nuclear Market services for management of complex projects, quality of delivery, machining, welding and NDE field services and focus on supporting our customers in operating their assets as safely and as long as possible.
The role of the design-installations coordinator will be to establish and maintain the link between the design and approval process on one side and the production and installations on the other side. The person will be responsible for the optimization of the design phase with the emphasis on the structural efficiency and installation feasibility. Reciprocally, the design-installation coordinator will closely follow the production and installation process with good knowledge of the design phase in order to interact promptly and proactively with the installation organization and streamline the solutions with the design group. The position requires to address technical issues related to the fabrication, assembly, and construction phases of the project. This includes the lead and control of technical justification of design changes and at times requires troubleshooting of emergent technical issues. The ideal candidate has proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practice and techniques for the design of steel structures, piping, supports and concrete anchorage and good knowledge of the rigging and handling practices, the related standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied.
Given the large geographical area covered by the function and the Major Projects organization, it is a truly international position that requires excellent communication skills (spoken and written) in English and French as a minimum. This advisory role requires an in-depth technical understanding of the design requirements and the installation process. Development, managing and maintaining good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organizations.
The selected candidate shall be familiar with construction codes as they apply in the Nuclear industry such as:
1. ASME B&PV Code - Sections III, II, V and IX
2. The French RCC-M Code
3. AISC – Allowable Stress Design of Steel Constructions
4. Eurocode 3: Design of Steel Structures
Who- you- are:
5. 10 years of technical project execution and field installations experience
6. MS in civil or mechanical engineering.
7. Excellent 3-dimensional vision and the ability to draft and sketch layout and design requirements for structures and components on the basis of site visits or “walkdowns” and in case of unforeseen events in the field
8. Ability to attend Design Reviews, Technical meetings, Pre and Post job briefings, exchange meeting with different counterpart organizations.
9. Willingness to work in radiologically controlled area on an occasional or regular basis, in support of emergency, or planned projects.
10. Proficiency in commonly used software packages (MS Office, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project).
11. Experience with FEA analytical tools such as PIPESTRESS, ANSYS, GTSTRUDL, other.
12. Use of CAD programs like AutoCAD, INVENTOR or similar.
13. Ability for quick communication by hand-written engineering sketches and markups.
14. Proficiency in French and English languages in reading and writing
15. Willingness to engage in written communication and correspondence, internally and towards customer organizations – Editorial skills
16. General communication skills – internally and externally,, towards clients and suppliers.
