Hauptaufgaben
As an Automotive Mechanic, you will:
- Perform the full range of organizational and direct spport level overhaul and repair work on chassis group units of a variety of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline and multifuel. Types include those in commercial industrial or tactical use, such as passenger cars and trucks, forklift trucks and warehouse tractors, jeep, buses, multi-wheel drive vehicles with automotive transmissions and auxiliary equipment, etc.
- Use a wide variety of test equipment to trace and locate defects and to determine the exact nature and extend of repairs needed.
- Perform overhaul and repairs on engines, power transmissions, suspensions, steering and braking systems and related electrical, fuel, hydraulic, wheel and engine assemblies.
- Tear down and rebuild components, and assembly by fitting and installing needed.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
PROFILE:
Applicants must possess a High Secondary School degree in the related field OR must demonstrate at least one year of experience in the same or a similar line of work.
The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position, as described in the following section of this announcement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
- Knowledge of the makeup, operation and installation of all components, assemblies and systems of vehicles such as engine, transmissions, front-and-rear-end assemblies, power steering and braking mechanisms and air-conditioning, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Abilities to determine when and how far major components should be torn down, what parts and mechanisms can be reworked and refitted or should be replaces with new parts, and the types and extend of adjustment and alignment required.
- Skill in removing and tearing down major components and assemblies, such as engines and transmissions, and to rebuild, adjust, reinstall, align, and mesh such components and assemblies.
- Skill in using test equipments, such as test stands, oscilloscopes, compression gauges, special feeder and dial gauges, exhaust analyzers, and engine and chassis dynamometers.

The selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a government's driver's license

US Army in Belgium is an American government agency whose mission is to provide logistical and administrative support to the US personnel at NATO and SHAPE in Belgium.
DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER:

- Permanent, full-time (38 hours/week)

- Salary: from 2,894.31 EUR gross/month at grade BB-5A

The SELECTEE will:
- Provide an extract of criminal record: "Modele 1". This document may be requested to the local resident registration office.
- Be subject to a Foreign National Screening administrated by the SHAPE Belgian Police.
- Pass an English test and a medical evaluation.
