Hauptaufgaben
As Fire Protection Inspector, you will:
- Perform fire prevention inspections of buildings, structures, storage areas, equipment and other installation facilities to identity and eliminate fire hazards, and to institute fire prevention measures.
- Check for compliance with local and higher echelon fire regulations and Belgian fire codes.
- Inspect new construction, modified or altered buildings to see that necessary fire precautions have been taken.
- Check for the existence of common hazards such as accumulated trash, blocked exits, combustible material storage, improper storage of flammable liquids, improper use of electrical appliances, etc.
- Prepare written reports of findings of each inspection and maintain necessary follow-up information to secure corrective action.
- Test and inspect installed fire protection systems, including smoke detectors, sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps and automatic and manual alarms.
- Conduct group and on-the-job training of all civilian personnel.
- Conduct investigations of fires to determine causes and corrective action to be taken, submit fire reports.
- Review proposed construction plans for compliance with applicable US and Belgian fire codes.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
There is no minimum educational requirement. However, applicants must have one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's), as described in the last section of this announcement, to perform successfully the duties of the position. Such duties may include:
(1) controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade;
(2) rescue operations;
(3) detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards;
(4) operation of fire communications equipment;
(5) controlling hazardous materials incidents and/or
(6) developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention.
To be creditable, demonstrated specialized experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the next lower grade level ( BA-04) in the normal line of progression for the occupation within the organization. Creditable experience could have been gained inside or outside the U.S. Forces.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
- Ability to develop, evaluate, execute a Fire Prevention and Protection program.
- Ability to develop, implement or provide trainings or classes on fire protection and prevention.
- Skill in controlling and/or extinguishing fires.
- Skill in detecting, reducing and eliminating potential fire hazards.

The selectee must possess a valid Belgian driver's license B. The selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a government driver's license.

• DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER
- Permanent, full-time (38 hours/week).
- Regular work schedule (Monday through Friday).

REFERRAL AND SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Civilian Human Resources Service Center (CHRSC) will review each application and will refer candidates to the management official who will make the final selection. The SELECTEE will:
•Provide an extract of criminal record: "Modele 1". This document may be requested to the local resident registration office.
•Be subject to a Foreign National Screening administrated by the SHAPE Belgian Police.
•Pass an English test and a medical evaluation.
