We’re looking for a Senior Solution Architect Consultant, to reinforce the team in our Brussels office!
Main Responsibilities
The Senior Solution Architect supports the execution of IT projects and bids by working with key stakeholders (business and IT) to understand the business requirements, identifying any gaps between business requirements and current IT capabilities, defining solutions to bridge the gaps, and making sure that the project scope is maintained, and solutions implemented in line with Serco architectural principles and the IT strategy for the business unit.
He/she is expected to work closely with clients and business representatives to understand their business needs and design solutions to tackle the IT need of each project or bid. The Senior Solution Architect must also understand the IT needs of the business as well as the overall impact of proposed solutions to the profitability of a business or bid.
To ensure that Senior Solution Architects maximize value and credibility, they will be a specialist in at least one specific IT area whilst maintaining a broad knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies. The Senior Solution Architect will support the domain Enterprise Architects in the production and maintenance of the roadmap for their area of expertise.
* Working with the business and the IT Project Manager to understand the needs of business and produce designs & solutions for each project.
* Whilst working on bids, liaising with the business development and bid teams to formulate appropriate solutions and cost models.
* Supporting the domain Enterprise Architects in the development and maintenance of standards and roadmaps in their area of expertise.
* Attending solution reviews and, if appropriate, governance boards, to ensure solutions are approved and adhere to Serco architectural standards.
* Presenting solution design and cost models as part of the Serco bid governance framework.
* Liaising with other IT professionals (e.g. Enterprise Architects, Technical Leads etc.) to architect and design solutions for business operations and bids.
* Ensuring compliance with solution architectural designs in the implementation of projects and bids.
* Providing architectural guidance and design leadership to the project delivery team to ensure delivery is in line with the design.
* Providing delivery execution support to the delivery team, supporting the change control process throughout the project.
* Explaining technical issues and IT solution strategies to non-technical stakeholders and other IT professionals as required in support of solutions.
* Aligning with IT Project Manager and BU DP to ensure that solution design milestones are accomplished in accordance with the project plan.
* Definition and implementation of solution and service designs, and PoC when needed.
* Ensuring solution and service designs are aligned with business needs and support Enterprise Architecture roadmaps and IT strategies.
* Reviewing the proposal of suppliers to ensure that quality inputs are deliverable, aligned to Enterprise Architecture roadmaps and compliant with standard services.
* Describing the design of the solution and service in sufficient detail for work to be planned, discussed, and clearly understood by business users.
* Describing the structure of solutions to a business problem, which may include several applications and technologies.

* Stress Management & Resilience: Capable of handling high-pressure situations, urgent requests, and tight deadlines while maintaining efficiency and quality.
* Technical Writing & Documentation: Ability to produce clear, structured, and comprehensive documentation for both technical and business audiences.
* Up-to-Date Technology Exposure: Strong awareness of current and emerging IT technologies, ensuring relevant and innovative solutions.
* Multilingual Skills: Fluent in English (mandatory); other languages are a plus.
Additional Requirements:
* Previous experience working on complex IT bids, preferably in large enterprises or the government sector, is required.
* Experience with government-outsourced opportunities and a strong ability to understand business requirements while maintaining knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies.
* Strong background and experience in at least one of the following IT disciplines: CRM, complex case management, ERP, cloud technologies, SaaS products, RPA/AI, or data analytics.
* A degree in IT related discipline (or appropriate working experience) is required along with an understanding of modern IT infrastructure, applications, and Cloud-based technologies (SaaS, Azure etc.).
