Eurima is the European Insulation Manufacturers Association and represents the interests of all major mineral wool insulation producers in Europe (Saint-Gobain Isover, manufacture insulation products that are used in residential and commercial buildings as well as industrial facilities. Glass and stone wool insulation secure a high level of comfort & well-being at home and in the office, energy savings and low energy costs and minimized CO2 emissions. Mineral wool insulation prevents heat loss through roofs, walls, floors, pipes and boilers, reduces noise pollution and protects homes and industrial facilities from the risk.
About the Role
EURIMA is looking for a skilled Regulatory Affairs Manager with a specific focus on Health, Safety and chemicals policy. This function will allow you to work on the cutting edge of EU and international regulatory affairs related to product, product stewardship and occupational health and safety within the context of sustainable construction. Your natural interest lies in EU chemicals legislation and the related EU decision-making process. Our Regulatory Affairs Manager will work closely with company-specialists as part of our young, dynamic and highly qualified Eurima-team under the direct responsibility of the Eurima Director General. The successful candidate is a motivated team-player who delivers regulatory acumen in support of Eurima’s objectives.
Your Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Issue Monitoring and Management:
– Monitoring EU and National policy developments affecting EURIMA’s interests, including tracking changes in legislation, emerging issues, and trends within the European Institutions (ECHA) and the broader EU decision-making process. Serving as a resource to the EURIMA membership by assessing regulatory impact, developing appropriate industry initiatives and elaborating strategic industry positions;
– Positioning the mineral wool insulation industry as a trusted party in the EU / International regulatory / scientific environment within the defined work-program. Building and maintaining a network of contacts across the EU institutions, ECHA, industry associations, and other key stakeholders ensuring EURIMA’s position is well represented in discussions and consultations;
– Representing EURIMA in meetings with partner associations and advocate on behalf of the organization’s members in alignment with its strategic objectives;
– Being the Eurima-relay to relevant REACH-consortia and translate the content of this work back to the Eurima Issue Monitoring;
– Working closely with Eurima’s (inter-) national Mineral Wool Network (EU-member-states, US/AUS/JAP,..) to ensure full awareness of national, EU and global scientific and regulatory trends (including OECD-BIAC) and the relevance hereof for different regions while initiating and coordinating joint research-projects.
2. Association and Working Group Management:
– Developing and implementing, together with the company representatives the yearly Work-program and budget of the Committee based on solid understanding of both regulatory and scientific development needs;
– Planning and organizing committee and working group meetings for EURIMA members, including setting agendas, identifying key discussion points, and facilitating meaningful exchanges;
– Structuring, maintaining and re-enforcing the mineral wool (scientific) knowledge-base in the health & safety area based on a profound comprehension of the related issues past, present and future;
– Coordinating input and efforts from external consultants, ensuring high-quality contributions that align with EURIMA’s goals and values;
– Overseeing and managing the total “life-cycle” of EURIMA’s various ongoing scientific / research projects, from ideation through to implementation and follow-up / reporting, including the administrative management of the contracts;
– Working with external research-partners to continuously reinforce our data-availability on topics such as In-vitro testing (both regulatory and science), occupational exposure measurement and medical surveillance;
– Communicating project progress, findings, and outcomes effectively to members and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with EURIMA’s mission;
– Ensuring high-level H&S related expertise and input into the work of other Eurima Committees related to Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Construction, Industry Policy and Technology and Standardisation where required as well as our thematic working Groups on dedicated topics;
– Driving the association’s initiatives by ensuring working groups are well-coordinated and productive.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
1. In-depth knowledge of EU chemicals legislation, with specific experience in the EU decision-making framework (knowledge of ECHA is a plus) allowing to confidently interpret and communicate complex regulatory topics particularly in the interface of chemicals and health & safety regulations;
2. Experience in Regulatory Affairs and compliance within the dynamic context of sustainable construction;
3. A natural interest in science and/or practical experience in the domains related to chemistry, toxicology, risk assessment, occupational health and safety while understanding the basics of risk management of chemicals (e.g. hazard assessment, exposure, general knowledge of toxicology);
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English with other languages being a plus.
5. Association management and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in organizing and managing member working groups, meetings, collaborative activities and partners & allies;
6. Diplomatic skills allowing to be or become a professional thought leader, proactive and well-organized. A positive team player with a high level of trustworthiness, able to listen and debate topics and create common understanding.
