Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège). Thales Belgium, which employs more than 280 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber) and Aerospace.
Mission:
As part of the Security discipline of the Engineering group of THALES Belgium, the Presales Cybersecurity Architect is responsible to define systems and solutions with customers and support the planning and execution of their integration into their target environment.
As a main actor of pre-sales and market capture activities, they bring expertise in analysing customer requests, designing architectures and preparing tenders on cybersecurity topics. They possess a hands-on experience with cybersecurity solutions, leveraging their real-world experience to propose the best solutions possible.
The Presales Cybersecurity Architect needs to be a technical passionate. Based on their existing background in IT, telecommunication systems and/or cybersecurity, they will be eager to discover new technologies to continuously expand and reinforce their expertise in these fields and their knowledge of the local and global cybersecurity products & services ecosystem.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Understand and analyse the customer’s needs;
2. Find the best solution and lead the architecture definition to meet the customer requirements;
3. Interface with the customer, for the technical related aspects of the solution;
4. Bring state of the art expertise for their field of expertise, specialty or domain;
5. Support the sales and marketing teams by providing internal and external technical pre-sales support for the solutions and services under the scope of Thales Belgium, taking the lead of the architecture aspects in strong cooperation with all the required technical and non-technical skills involved (e.g. hardware, software, security, quality, maintenance);
6. Contribute to costing activities under the leadership of the Bid Management team;
7. Lead the Make/Team/Buy decision process and support the partner & subcontractor choice throughout the capture & delivery activities;
8. Be in charge of the executive and technical documentation for tenders and support handover to projects (including but not limited to design documentation);
9. Support when needed the teams responsible for the implementation and testing of the solution by providing technical expertise on various aspects of the solution under development, ensuring the design and development goals until the final phases of the bid/project.
Profile:
10. Master’s Degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, IT and/or Cybersecurity).
11. At least 5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity solutions design, tendering and implementation activities.
12. At least 3 years of professional experience on four or more of the following topics:Network architecture and security (firewalls, encrypters, routers, ZTN, …);Intrusion detection and response (IDS, xDR, …);SOC-related technologies : log collection & management, SIEM & SOAR ;IT systems architecture, in particular in Windows-centric environments;Cloud-environments (preferably Azure/O365) security aspects, both in hybrid and full-cloud deployments;Asset discovery (IT and/or military OT);Vulnerability and patching management, preferably following a risk-based approach;Cyber Range design, procurement and operations;Working with NATO and/or EU regulations on IT and/or military OT cybersecurity.
13. One or more of the following is a strong differentiator :Possession of a valid NATO, EU and/or National security clearance;Experience with technical and governance constraints related to classified information handling, especially in a crypto-related context;Experience and awareness of the spatial and/or military vocabulary and way of working, in particular around cybersecurity;Knowledge of Data Centric Security principles and upcoming regulations;Consulting and advisory experience with demonstrated skills in translating business requirements to technical solutions;Experience with internal and external knowledge sharing through in-person seminars, webinars and/or whitepapers redaction.Experience with critical communication networks, with legacy (i.e. TETRA or X25) and/or next-generation (broadband LTE/5G);
14. Eager to work with multiple, diverse technical integrations, technologies and processing environments.
15. Passion for technologies, continuous education and problem solving.
16. Good communication skills, both verbally and written.
17. Fluent in French or Dutch; fluent in English (professional capacity).
