Job Description
The Head of Communication plays a key role as an internal curator and communication catalyst for our Private Members Club TheMerode. This role involves gathering, interpreting, and capitalizing on information, identifying communication opportunities, and creating new avenues for communication. Acting as a solution provider, he/she transforms every event, topic, or story into a strategic communication asset, contributing to TheMerode's brand development.
Additionally, the Head of Communication is the internal guardian of the brand, ensuring consistent brand identity across all internal TheMerode tools, such as programming materials, community, in-house and external communications.
The primary goals are to develop awareness, ensure loyalty and support acquisition commercial strategy, infusing vibrancy, dynamism, and inspiration.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communication Planning
* Develop and execute comprehensive annual communication plans (internal & external) aligned with business objectives.
* Identify key messaging, channels, and target audiences for each plan.
* Deeply understand member expectations, Club differentiation factors, and strategic segments.
* Oversee the communication plan by collecting information from different TheMerode departments, identifying and prioritizing communication opportunities, and crafting agency briefings.
* Secure internal approval from project leads and "head of" teams
* Continuously evaluate and adapt strategies to meet evolving club goals
Team Management
* Lead and manage a team of 4
* Provide guidance and mentorship to the team for skill development and growth
Operational Management
* Oversee day-to-day communication activities, ensuring timely and high-quality execution
* Monitor and drive the implementation of communication surrounding TheMerode experiences in daily operations, during programming events, and at Experience moments
Brand Image & Reputation Management
* Establish and enforce brand guidelines for all communication materials
* Safeguard and enhance the club's image through consistent and compelling communication, ensuring all messages and content align with brand image
* Monitor online and offline channels to address any reputation issues promptly
Message Translation & Content Development
* Translate complex information into clear, engaging, and impactful communication materials.
* Create content for various channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and promotional materials.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Cocreate and align all content production with Bruno Pani, founder and CEO of TheMerode
* Collaborate with internal departments to understand their communication needs (Programming, Community, Event, F&B, etc.) and identify daily communication opportunities aligned with TheMerode's mission and ambition
* Liaise with Profirst to coordinate communication efforts and get support when relevant
* Infuse creativity and inspiration into all teams, actively contributing to elevating TheMerode's project. Forge connections between different departments to achieve a coherent and inspiring communication ecosystem
Performance Analysis & Reporting
* Track and analyze communication metrics, including media reach
* Generate reports to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
* Regularly present findings to the leadership team
Innovation & Opportunity Identification
* Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities
* Identify emerging opportunities for innovative communication approaches
* Develop partnerships and collaborations to expand the club's reach
On-Site Presence
* Balance week schedule ensuring physical presence in Rixensart to be close to the founder, as well as on-site presence at the club in Brussels (2 or 3 days / week)
* Engage with members, observe club activities, and participate in events as needed
Language Proficiency & Travel
* Trilingualism is a significant advantage, otherwise, perfect proficiency in French and English is required.
* Possession of a valid driver's license (Permis B)

* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Demonstrated passion and expertise in brand strategy, activation, and communication plan implementation
* A fervent curiosity for culture and a keen understanding of societal issues
* Strong analytical process and synthesis skills, adept at managing priorities and uncovering hidden opportunities
* Proven experience in team management
* Excellent project management and organizational abilities
* Proficiency in relevant software and tools
* Exceptional writing skills and full fluency in English
* Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing club dynamics
