Lecturer (tenure track) / associate professor Business Informatics
Background
The Business Informatics research group is situated within the Department Quantitative Methods of the Faculty of Business Economics. The research group is part of Digital Future Lab, focusing on digitization and AI. The research aims to support companies and organizations in their decision making, structured around three themes: (i) Audit Analytics, (ii) Event Data Analytics, and (iii) Process Analytics in Healthcare.
With this vacancy, the Business Informatics research group wishes to expand its expertise, either focusing on a specific application domain or broadly from a foundation of Business Informatics, such as Business Process Management, Information Systems, Data Mining/Knowledge Discovery, and Business Intelligence.
The research group aims for a composition where each professor has unique expertise within Business Informatics while ensuring complementarity and strong collaboration among members.
Education task
You will participate in Business Informatics courses in various programs (bachelor/master) of the Faculty of Business Economics and contribute to the development of the programs Business Informatics and Master of Management, as well as the specialization Data Science for Business. You are expected to support and help realize the educational vision of the university, faculty, and programs.
As a member of the Department Quantitative Methods, you may also contribute to the broader teaching assignment of the department to balance teaching workload.
Research mission
You will strengthen the research of the Business Informatics research group and lead a new research cell around a unique and complementary theme, starting from a specific business economic domain or a Business Informatics foundation.
You will develop your research identity within the group and broaden existing research while connecting with existing research lines, particularly in Audit Analytics, Event Data Analytics, and Process Analytics in Healthcare, to pursue complementarity and collaboration.
Additionally, you will support the vision of the Business Informatics research group with a business economics focus, aiming for national and international recognition within the Business Informatics research community. You will publish in leading academic journals, write project proposals, build an academic and professional network, and supervise doctoral students to completion of their PhD.
Profile
* You have a doctoral degree focused on Business Informatics or equivalent research experience.
* You have a scientific track record illustrating your potential as a researcher relative to your seniority, demonstrating embedding and recognition within the international Business Informatics research community. This may include publications in leading journals or active participation in relevant conferences.
* You have demonstrable research experience within the Business Informatics domain that reinforces and complements the research within the group.
* You possess a relevant international academic network and contacts in the professional domain.
* You are a team player who proactively seeks collaborative opportunities.
* Your vision of education aligns with the educational philosophy of the university, faculty, and program.
* You have experience in high-quality academic teaching, developing teaching materials, and supervising projects and dissertations.
* You have knowledge of Dutch and English at C1 level, demonstrated through your diploma or an official certificate, with requirements for obtaining certification if not already held.
* Experience as a postdoctoral researcher is an asset.
* Experience in developing new courses aligned with program competencies and in educational management is an asset.
* Experience in preparing and recruiting scientific funding at national and/or international levels is an asset.
Offer
Two types of appointments are possible based on your profile and experience: (1) A full-time position in the grade of lecturer, in temporary employment in the tenure track system for five years, culminating in a permanent appointment to the rank of associate professor upon favorable evaluation. (2) A full-time position as a lecturer or associate professor, potentially leading to a permanent appointment, with the possibility of a temporary appointment for up to three years for first-time ZAP members, culminating in a permanent appointment upon favorable evaluation.
