The Engineering Manager for the Morpheus program is responsible for overseeing the engineering aspects of the project aimed at transforming the European Distribution Center (EDC) Courcelles facility to meet the inventory and volume needs for the 2025-2035 MedTech franchises.
The incumbent will lead the technological and system proposal development, potentially guiding the deployment through to operational stabilization upon project approval. Collaboration with project leaders on interdependent initiatives, such as LEGO and Transcend, is essential.
The role includes managing all engineering activities related to automation systems at the Courcelles Distribution Center (DC) and overseeing the local engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop business plans, project timelines, resource requirements, and budget plans for the Morpheus program and EDC distribution centers, ensuring alignment with MedTech goals and supporting cross-functional projects.
* Design and deploy cutting-edge DC automation solutions, ensuring adherence to Industry 4.0 principles and robust validation/change control processes.
* Direct engineering activities on-site to support strategic plans, manage equipment downtime, and enhance process flow.
* Act as a change agent to promote innovative processes, investigate and recommend new equipment solutions, and execute cost-reduction and efficiency improvement projects utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Partner with site team for knowledge transfer for technical issues and developing maintenance procedures.
* Develop and monitor automation systems metrics, implementing process surveillance programs for quality and reliability in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Actively participate in department and sector collaboration on all Deliver engineering workstreams, not limited to automation.
* Manage project risks, including the development of contingency plans, initiating corrective action, flagging any risk to the Project Manager Morpheus, and identifying and obtaining any support and advice required for the management, planning, and control of the project.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Business Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is a valuable asset.
* Over 10 years in engineering, supply chain, distribution, specializing in Industry 4.0 solutions in distribution environments.
* Experience in setting up and running logistics automation systems (Autostore, Shuttle, etc).
* Understanding of control systems and automation technologies (PLC, HMI, SCADA, OEE, WCS) and smart technologies (IoT, edge computing, AI/ML algorithms, digital twins).
* Skilled in managing budgets, controlling information flows, and executing project planning, combined with strong business development acumen (FPX or other Project Management certification is a plus).
* Insights and knowledge of strategic logistics, including supply chain management, transportation, and warehouse management.
* Understanding of distribution operations and IT systems related to logistics.
* Understanding of European safety standards for equipment design and operation.
* Ability to map critical path & risks, good knowledge of PERTH / GANTT, etc.
* Ensure adequate change control, required configuration is addressed.
* Digital & Financial acumen, managing complex budget.
* Fluency in English is required; French is a plus.
