Key Objectives
* Lead the legal, risk, compliance, and IP function, ensuring seamless integration of these critical areas within UBS’s global operations.
* Develop and execute strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate legal, regulatory, operational, and IP-related risks.
* Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, and executive leadership, offering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
* Uphold UBS’s commitment to sustainability, ethics, and transparency by embedding ESG and IP protection considerations into compliance and governance practices.

Responsibilities
Legal Leadership
* Oversee all legal matters, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, M&A, litigation, and intellectual property rights.
* Provide legal guidance on international business operations and regulatory requirements.
* Manage external legal counsels and represent the company in legal proceedings where needed.
Risk Management
* Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework covering legal, operational, compliance, and IP-related risks.
* Monitor and respond to emerging risks, including those related to cybersecurity, global regulations, and geopolitical developments.
* Align legal risk management with business strategies and objectives.
Compliance Oversight
* Maintain a strong compliance program in line with global and local laws (e.g., anti-bribery, AML, GDPR).
* Lead compliance education and awareness programs across all departments.
* Ensure alignment between compliance efforts and ESG-related obligations.
Intellectual Property Management
* Design and implement an IP strategy to protect and leverage innovations, plant varieties, and trademarks.
* Collaborate closely with R&D and commercial teams to identify, register, and enforce IP rights.
* Manage global IP filings, renewals, oppositions, and potential litigation in collaboration with external patent attorneys.
* Negotiate IP-related agreements, including licensing, research collaborations, and joint ventures.
Governance and Sustainability
* Advise executive management and the Board on governance matters and corporate standards.
* Integrate sustainability and ethical considerations into legal, compliance, and IP management practices.
* Stay ahead of evolving ESG and IP-related regulations and ensure proactive compliance.
